Shame it's not exactly transformational for STM though which is what we need to see to really get the share price motoring. Odd that one of the companies mentioned - EBC - was only incorporated earlier this year so, as a ltd co at least, not "in existence for decades" per the announcement!

Looks to be a complementary acquisition at a reasonable price - or am I suffering from a little confirmation bias?

Just read the RNS trading update from last week. STM didn't mention that they had a financial penalty imposed as part of their agreement with the regulator in Gibraltar as stated in the regulator's public announcement hxxps://www.fsc.gi/news/statement-on-stm-fidecs-gibraltar-377
Hopefully the fine was modest!

I might beat you !!

7-10 days ago & mine hadnt arrived !, broker claimed that first cheque to them got lost in the post & that a new one was being posted.

(in 2020 are payments to big brokers where there might be multiple/some clients to receive a divi
...is a cheque really sent for each client's divi ?!

seems difficult to believe. Surely it should be 1 payment since the registrar inows the nominee holding as just 1 combined block & not as individual holdings of ppl inside a nominee account

& surely in 2020 it should be a bank transfer from the co. or co. registrar to the nominee & not paper cheques sent by the old fashioned letter system (although its surely the best & fastest postal system in the world ( in southern Europe its 3-5 days for delivery !; 1st & 2nd class ? dream on. 3-5 days for everyone unless you pay thru the nose for express (DHL type prices)

hopefully no one at my broker was pocketting/diverting the first cheque, hoping that I wouldn't notice 1 missing divi...hmmm

Re: Investors champion market wariness and other comments. IMO the market doesn't like surprises and unfortunately STM has regularly delivered over the past few years e.g. Regulator troubles, CEO arrest, last years profits warning. I think they need to start coming good on the optimism put out in the last few annual reports to convince investors that they're on the right track and past issues are well behind them. It's disappointing that the recent share price improvement hasn't held up above 30p but thankfully I was able to take some profits before the price slipped. If it continues to drift down it might be time to pick some up again.

Alternatively it would be nice to think that they could be a target for another acquisitive group which might do wonders for the present share price! A larger player could probably strip a lot of cost out as the STM board & head office overheads must be at least circa £2m (e.g.YOY board costs increased 46% - Board shown as £800k in accounts but when you add in any bonuses etc and CoSec and other group exec costs like Risk/Audit it must easily be north of £1.5m), so an immediate uplift in profits for an acquirer who already has those capabilities and can strip out other duplicate costs.

Anyone else NOT had their dividend credited to them yet? Or, to turn that on its head, who HAS received their dividends and with which broker? Thanks.

partly since it hit a bump in the road & had a reduction in profits

mkts dont like a fall in profits...& give it a low p/e

but overdone imo

if we see an expectation of an increase in profit then we should see the share price go up, each to their own opinion but I think its best to take a position before that/then rather than afterwards

Anybody have an idea why this is so lowly valued - PE ratio of 4.97, and more cash than the market capitalization !!!.
