I think the Sky article was just badly worded. What they should have said was that Edi Truell is part of a wider group of investors with an interest in acquiring the business (as a consortium). I don't believe there are any other potential buyers in the background, so it will be interesting to see where the share price lands if the deal fails to conclude

Stability is definitely needed to restore investor confidence but it doesn't look like STM are there yet. It appears that the Gibraltar business - pensions and insurance - has lost its third Chief Executive in as many years. Their website now shows the actuary as 'Interim Chief Executive'. Also NED resignations this year. Not signs of a happy ship.

Smithie6 - you ask what is going to change to get results in post 1277.

Well in answer to that I would suggest one thing that is meant to do that, is the Acquisition of the SIPP a SSAS business from Mercer Ltd for £3.34 million, planned on 31.08.2022 - other acquisitions in this area could follow.

Another thing is the replacement of Board Members and in particular the Chairman. A new Chairman can have such a positive effect and if in harmony with the CEO can really impact the business in a very positive manner.

So once the detailed trading statement is presented soon after the completion of Premier Pensions, there maybe light at the end of the tunnel and the information may even attract new potential investors, as the share price has fallen so far, or a takeover.

While you may view todays statement as negative, I see it as facing up to reality and the important thing stated in the RNS is:

"However, the pipeline remains encouraging and therefore management believe that their 2022 overall profit expectations will be met."

In light of this it is now oversold imo.

STM was included in the Investors Chronicle'cheap small cap growth Plays' portfolio which has shown regular outperformance over many years.
Despite this the share price dropped yesterday. Share price unloved until there is good news

elsa

yes Alan comes over well.
as I expected,
he was the Tech/IT director before
& you need to fairly capable to get that role imo.
& I liked him being picked as the MD ;-)

I've been waiting a few yrs to see these IT projects get made & then introduced, as you'll see in my posts from yrs ago

I'm a tech. person, so he had my vote since he got the MD job X years ago (5-7yrs ??) (& increasing IT to reduce costs/labour is popular with all investors !) (& the MD said there is also a notable annual saving due to avoiding licensing costs for external software)

how much it will add to the EPS we have to wait to see, (but the underlying hidden increase in the value of the co. , with more use of IT, & a more modern efficient company has already happened :-) )

CWA1, I agree. I wonder if PG was already a shareholder below the notifiable threshold and has just crossed it or whether that 3.08% holding was picked up all in one go? If the latter I would imagine that there would have to be an update about a disposal from another large holder.

From the PG AB website:
PGAB mostly invest in “small-capR21;-companies, predominantly in Sweden and the UK. Most often PGAB aim to establish a position as the largest shareholder in the companies in which we invest, our investment profile is typically that of a “proactive investor”.

So it will be interesting to see if anything more develops!

Just noticed the RNS today about 2020 results announcement now delayed until May due to a possible provision being required following the latest Cary/Adams ruling. Mention of a "significant exercise" being carried out to determine if it's something STM needs to provide for. Even though Co says it's covered by insurance and indemnities, further uncertainty surely not ideal from an investor perspective.

copy & paste of an article about Sanne

doing similar financial admin. work to STM but its a much bigger company

trades at a p/e of 20.4.

"The shares currently trade on a price earnings ratio of 20.4 times earnings, below the long run average, but by no means cheap. There is a 2.6 per cent prospective dividend yield on offer, but still the group will have to grow if it's to deliver for investors."
