Statement re Provisional Liquidation

PROVISIONAL LIQUIDATION ANNOUNCEMENT

Shareholders are referred to the voluntary suspension announcement published on
SENS this morning, wherein it was advised that:

  * The Company previously carried out pumping operations on behalf of
    Hartebeestfontein Gold Mine, a division of Buffelsfontein Gold Mines
    Limited, which is a subsidiary of DRDGold Limited (DRD North West
    Operations). Recent press and SENS announcements had stated that these
    operations had been placed under provisional liquidation; and
   
  * As a result of the above, the directors of the Company requested the JSE
    Securities Exchange South Africa to suspend trade in Stilfontein shares
    with effect from 7 June 2005 as the board of directors has applied for the
    provisional liquidation of Stilfontein.
   
An application has been made on behalf of the Company to the High Court of
South Africa (Witwatersrand Local Division) and will be heard by the Court
early next week. Shareholders will be kept abreast of all developments in this
regard
