    Issue of bonds


    South Staffordshire Water PLC (the "Company") announces that it has launched an issue of £35 million 1.843 per cent. RPI-linked Bonds
due 2051 (the "Bonds"). The Bonds, which are expected to be rated BBB+ and Baa2 by Standard & Poor's and Moody's Investors Service, will be
redeemed on 30th June, 2051.  Application will be made for the Bonds to be admitted to each of the Official List of the UK Listing Authority
and to trading on the London Stock Exchange's regulated market.

    Adrian Page, Finance Director, commented;

    "We are pleased to have successfully placed these bonds. The issue will allow us to increase the average duration of our debt and as the
coupons and principal are both linked to RPI, the Issue will mirror our pricing regime."

    The issue of Bonds was arranged by Barclays Capital.
