Stewart & Wight plc has contracted to purchase the freehold property known as 
23 High Row, Darlington, for the price of #715,000 with the completion due on 22
April 2003.

The whole of the property is let for a term of 99 years from 7 February 1964 at
a current rent of #38,500 per annum with rent reviews in 2013 and 2038. The
property is sublet to Boots the Chemist at #41,125 per annum until 2011. The
purchase will be funded from the company's own resources.

The Board of Stewart & Wight plc consider that this latest acquisition to be a
good addition to the property portfolio of the Company.
