The Board of SMF Technologies plc announced as part of the interim statement
issued on 25 October 2002 that it had identified an acquisition opportunity and
that it was exploring its capacity to finance the transaction. Whilst
indications of support for the acquisition were received both from major
shareholders and a bank it has not been possible to reach a situation with the
financing that satisfied the vendors so as to enable the acquisition to be put
to shareholders. Therefore work on this acquisition has been terminated.
Trading continues to be at an acceptable level. A small write-off will arise in
respect of the costs incurred in the abortive acquisition. The Board currently
estimate these costs to be some Euro60,000. Development of the Company's
technology continues but short term revenues from licence fees are expected to
be constrained by general economic conditions.
