Phoenix owns everything. If the stamp
Isn't sold in 5 years , it is returned to Phoenix. If it is sold, then Sgi gets 50 per cent of the profit ...that doesn't include Capital, just 50 per cent of any profit .

No marketplace for the British Guano stamp. No surprise there as sellers would immediately devalue the remaining approx 65,000 unsold fractions and I am not entirely clear whether SGI or Phoenix owns those.

Still clutching at straws Jasdan! SGI is now down 50% since February while the market generally is still going strong and in the right direction. What feeble excuses can you come up with this time? Never mind - the year end results will be out soon and then we can see where the company is heading. My money is on South.

I gather there has been a problem with US buyers on it due to the unique situation surrounding residents based in different States. Different taxes and regulations apply per State, I don't think this was realised by Showpiece so the website is having to be updated accordingly.
As I understand it, the new Warhol fraction is due to go on sale in July, so I'd guess whatever the problems are, they will be ironed out by then.

I like the showpiece idea but won't buy until they have a functioning marketplace...

Their shop is ideally placed to exhibit and sell show pieces.

From Showpiece website:
"Unfortunately, we’re not accepting further purchases from US based customers. We want to ensure we always place our collector’s experience above all else and believe that at the minute this means taking our US site offline for new users and revising our offering. Once this process is complete and we relaunch the platform effectively we will be sure to provide an update. In the meantime, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. If you are an existing customer based in the USA we will continue to honour existing commitments. However, for the time being you will be unable to make further purchases on the platform. Please contact us at hello@showpiece.com if you wish to learn more about these changes."

No Showpiece marketplace and why is the site offline? Legal action?

It looks like a cunning manipulation. This kind of share simply “needs” it. No formal bad news to be alarmed. The failure to start the marketplace in May means nothing.

Ochs, I think you will find the claim was addressed in their April update, basically there is no issue here.

Today's fall, like others recently, has arisen during days of light trading, where very little selling seems to spark an over-reaction to the price.
so far 40,000 sold, well over 200,000 bought, yet the price is down. Illogical really.

Thanks for all your comments, very helpful. SGI down again today, on another day of rising markets... I wonder if the below from the April statement could be the problem? Has there been any progress since? - I wonder how much the claim would be for?

"Also as previously reported in the Interim Report and Accounts, in September 2021 a previous investor of Stanley Gibbons (Guernsey) Ltd (In Liquidation) has lodged a claim against The Stanley Gibbons Group plc in Guernsey. The Board has sought counsel opinion in both the UK and Guernsey and continues to believe that the Group is in a good position to successfully defend the claim."

Wishful thinking from Jasdan. The bare fact are this company is in breach of its covenants, being kept going by Phoenix who supply ever increasing funding. Even the directors think there is a risk for this company as a going concern. Coupled with demographic headwinds, rising interest rates and consumer volumes declining, I cannot see any obvious way back for this firm.

Jasdan, Are you on another planet? Between Feb 10th when the FTSE hit a high for this year and now when it is almost back to the same level there have been some ups and downs I will give you that BUT SGI has fallen from 2.5p to 1.5p over the same period. Personally, I don't need a calculator to work out that that is a fall of 40% over the same period. I am sure that some other shares have also fallen by the same amount but the overall market is still strong. Your comments are very wide of the mark I'm afraid.

I think you will find that the fall in the shares matches a very rocky period in the more general stock market and many shares have also fallen by a similar amount over the last few months.

There's in fact very little trading day to day in the shares, but many appear to be watching on the sidelines. If a big buyer emerges for example, others quickly put through a buy order.

I also think the increasing fractional sales must lead to increased investor interest in these shares. Seems logical enough but has yet to happen.

Phoenix have repeatedly said they are in this for the long term, and I believe them. Given they spent £19.45m buying their original 58% stake, I'd say they had a lot to lose from delisting the company.

The statement on 19 April seemed fine and fairly positive, so the share price decline since is a bit surprising.

I wonder if there's a risk of de-listing with Phoenix already owning so much? You'd hope they'd do the decent thing and buy out what they don't already own rather than de-list. I'm pondering this one - tempted to buy more on basis of 19 April statement, but I'm also wondering if something else is going on behind the scenes?

Maybe Ukraine should offer NFT's of a stamp of Ukraine Tractors pulling Russian tanks that have been damaged/destroyed to help support the war effort against the thugs of Russia that invaded a sovereign country for financial gain and food power.
