Maybe a general market down day, the reason for the close to 3% drop…

We were hitting £19 before the windfall tax issue… maybe we’ll get there before ex divi ! GLA

That statement is about the period of time up to September but hardly binds Boris's successor to a tax strategy. However, good to see a share price recovery amongst the wreckage of most of my portfolio!

I guess it's not safe to completely rule it out just yet whatever the media or Boris may say as it will depend on who gets Boris's job at the end of the day. Nothing Boris says carries a great deal of credibility either way any more but any additional WFT is looking far less likely now.

Slightly different quote with less rassurance:
The Government isn't planning to extend the windfall tax on oil and gas companies to electricity generators.

The Prime Minister's spokesman confirmed the verdict this morning, saying it was in line with policy not to make any major fiscal decisions until a successor to Boris Johnson is in place.

He said: "There's no plans to do that in line with convention, so we will continue to evaluate the scale of the profits and take appropriate steps – but we have no plans to introduce or extend that to that group."

Boris: "no new policies until new leader in October"
so no Electricity generators WFT ...assuming he survives until then of course. It does seem to be a bit of a dead duck now anyway.
