that sounds reasonable - any idea who have approached MF?

Well it is only idle speculation but it seems that Micro Focus has had an approach and they have been expanding into software quality recently.

Frankly, I don't think SQS will remain independent over the next few years. The company is a leading player in a niche market of IT services and the more scale they build, the more attractive they are to a purchaser, who can then generate synergies via off shore outsourcing (Indians) or cross sell solutions (Western)

Picked some up earlier. Now the Egyptian issue has subsided and they have demonstrated they can shift work effectively in future, it has been somewhat derisked.

Its v cheap on a PE basis but they are spending more on Capex now so it is not all dropping into the balance sheet. No matter, it is expansionary capex so in future years the longer term contracts will mean they generate more stable cash flows through the economic cycles.

Moreover, IMHO, it remains a genuine takeover target. The management hold significant positions so any potential deal would have to be at a decent premium.

Superb. It'll be interesting to see whether this yields awards from competitors who are also involved in the switch to smart metering.

Lovely contract win:

SQS signs GBP8 million Managed Services contract with Centrica

SQS Software Quality Systems AG (AIM: SQS.L), the world's largest pure play supplier of independent software testing and quality management services, announces that it has signed a Managed Services contract worth GBP8 million with Centrica plc ("Centrica"), the UK's leading integrated energy company.

Centrica has selected SQS to provide on and offshore testing, with a focus on raising quality and reducing risk within their business critical systems such as the Smart Metering programme, which is designed to be installed in over two million homes. The contract, which commences immediately, is worth GBP8 million over 12 months and will involve SQS providing end-to-end testing, from performance through to automated regression test suites, in an on and offshore model.

This contract represents a continuation of existing business volumes with Centrica. However, in signing a Managed Services contract for 12 months, Centrica has made a significantly longer commitment than the previous project-based contracts, resulting in improved revenue visibility for SQS.

David Cotterell, SQS Board Director, commented: "We are delighted that Centrica has extended its commitment to SQS, demonstrating the high value it places on partnering with a pure play, independent testing provider with a proven on and offshore presence. As well as providing greater revenue visibility this contract demonstrates the success of the ongoing strategic investment into our Managed Services business."

Nice to see the share price looking a little healthier today.

It is disappointing, but we do have a history of minor retracement. Surely though, it's the long term that matters

Surprising to see the negative price action here since results....people seem afraid to hang around in shares at the moment if theres an opportunity to take profits.

Agreed, Stegrego has long been a favoured worthwhile poster on ADVFN's boards as far as I'm concerned.

Steg,

My sympathies - I've seldom seen you post anything unreasonable. I seem to recall Env getting stroppy with me recently on the MWE thread. There are some very deserving cases for banishment, but I'd say that you most certainly ain't one.

This years forecast of 29c looks very achievable given the rise in underlying EPS from 21c to 25c this year and hopefully can be beaten by a little.
I think there is a good chance the rating can improve this year.
