Appointment of Non-executive Chairman

London, UK - 19 May 2017: Spirent Communications plc ("Spirent", the "Company" or the "Group") (LSE: SPT), a leading communications technology company, today announces that Bill Thomas will become Non-executive Chairman of the Board with effect from 19 May 2017.

Bill, who joined Spirent as a Non-executive Director on 1 December 2016, has wide-ranging experience of leading highly complex services businesses and technology-led organisations. His career has included senior management positions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services and serving in multiple roles over 20 years at EDS. He is currently a non-executive director of The Co-operative Bank plc, serves on the advisory board of cyber security specialist FireEye Inc.

Commenting, Jonathan Silver, Senior Independent Non-executive Director of Spirent and Acting Chairman of the Nomination Committee in respect of the Chairman search, said:
