Product revenues jumped 250 pct in the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 2006. The optical fibre-based laser specialist said it expects the growth in customer acquisition to continue in the second half along with an increasing number of repeat orders. 09/5/2007 16:27 | very interesting investors presentation with SPIL today. significant contract win today. H2 sales pipeline looks promising. a lot of interested fund manager types asking the right questions. panmure target of 260p (conservative) significant increase in their medical aesthetics sector. catching up/closing the gap between main competition IPG listed on NASDAQ. Very thin market at the mo. | markralph
10/1/2007 15:30 | Someone has just bought a miserly 12k at way over asking price. OK, the NMS is 500 but the premium they paid is hefty. Maybe they are better informed than me. I would not be surprised to see this company and its share price moving sharply up from these levels as PI's evaluate the true potential and further positive RNS emanates relating to JV's and sales. | stultissimus
10/1/2007 10:07 | More contract news due in the near future. This is one technology company that has a really good niche market, good products and established excellent industrial tie ups that will yield a high GM. Their approach to market is good with excellent customer support at design stage which ensures product lock in. They are also under NDA with majors in other allied fields of laser use, which if as successful as previous developments will enhance 2007/8 sales/cash flow forecast significantly. I know, I have had dealings with them and they are good . | stultissimus

24/10/2006 08:03 | Contract wins and technical update SPI Lasers plc (AIM:SPIL) a leader in the design, development, engineering and manufacture of optical-fibre-based lasers, today announces a number of contract wins and also delivers a technical update. The Company is pleased to report an increase in order inflow in its medical and marking sectors. Recent orders received from three customers for shipments within the next three months exceed US$1 million, with an expectation that these customers will scale in volume further during 2007. In addition to these notable orders, the Company has also received further orders from over ten customers, which forms part of the sales funnel of repeating accounts. Further to the technical issues reported at the half year results, the Company is pleased to be able to update the market that the pulsed products for the MARKING sector are now shipping to customers after resolution of these issues. David Parker, Chief Executive of SPI Lasers, commented: "I am pleased to report both a strengthening order book and significant progress in one of our key new product introductions and this further underpins the current market expectations for the year. Progress has also been made in the higher power lasers and I would expect to update the market more formally in due course." | ron manager
23/9/2006 11:14 | This would a massive stock to SELL if it were a more liquid stock, £1 here we come. Nothing to support the current share price I sold out earlier in the yr and was nervous at being on the sidelines and missing the potential profits until the recent news!! | kristini

23/7/2006 18:56 | I dont think profit will come this year. Also next or the following year staff holders will be allowed to sell. | andonis
11/7/2006 09:13 | ...dunno - but the placing was at quite a discount (185p vs. ~230p currently) continuing to watch | mikehardman
11/7/2006 08:51 | Good news this morning. I'm a watcher not a holder. As usual with tech companies wonderful products are one thing, profits another. Present cap approx £40m so presumably profits of say £2m required within a couple of years to justify present share price never mind higher prices. I'm struggling to get a grip of possible profitability - any views? | alan russell

01/4/2006 11:02 | Dont hold - but had been tempted to have a look at the 170s. Believe 215p target from Panmure, so agree looks like it is all in the price at this level imo. | tole

27/3/2006 23:24 | I tried to add a link to what IPG Photonics of the US is up to but it will not work, however IPG is a private company at the moment so the only way you can get exposure to this exciting market is via SPIL. It is reported that IPG Photonics is one of the fastest growing companies in the US and that takes some doing. IPG expects to grow into a company with more than $1 billion in sales they expect turnover to grow about 50-70% annually. They state they have not one new market but 10 new markets and they are opening more and more applications all the time. Taken from an artical written on 30.Sept.2005. It seems SPIL is following the same path of rapid growth. Interesting. | walker10
