Off topic Outsider, I remember you as a value investor from OFEX days. While we're awaiting the results from SIN I'd appreciate an opinion on CMG. They seem to have turned a corner but still not widely known.

According to Mail on Sunday, Travelodge has 250,000 rooms & intends to double its number of hotels in the UK in the next 3 years (2010)and expand on continent as well.

Very very good news for spectrum.

(from Investors Chronicle last month: "To date 300 hotels have been wired including Travelodge and Premier Travel Inns, covering 30,000 rooms.")

Battle,

Have watched this one down from over a 100p, eventually buying in at mid 60s. It's been a frustrating share to hold, especially when dipping down below 20p - nevertheless, I kept faith and we do seem to be heading the right way. For those reasons I've tended to hold and monitor, rather than add (although with hindsight, I should have been braver). I eagerly await the next results because I feel that they will be crucial in indicating whether SIN have cracked the Internet growth vs Telephone decline balance.

That said, if nothing else, the phone booths do make very attractive multi-sided advertising boards.

Agree with your feelings re greater short-term potential here, but for me AVG contributes a different aspect to my portfolio. If you're looking for good risk/return options, I'd suggest that you look at two European property investors that promise good growth : SYG (mainly Germany) and EEE (East Europe).

Regards

Sensible advice Outsider. However on Director buys it is always best to checkout who the directors are and trheir current holdings and history of buying the shares. A CEO or an FD is a more qualified investor than an NXD.

Recently two new NXD's (Chairman & Deputey Chairman)of an AIM listed finance company named Homebuy bought £250,000 in shares between them. Less than a month later the company shares were suspended and then the company went into Receivership since the banks would not continue to support them despite the fact that they were profitable at an operating level. Investors who might have been encouraged by these director share purchases would have lost 100% of their investment in less than 4 weeks !

Therefore DYOR and while director investments are encouraging, don't blindly follow them !

Yes & buys following thick and fast now, can't see the price dropping that much from here as mm's who took on stock at 35p, will want that to be the floor, for the next leg up.....momentum & trend clearly on investors side here imo.

I will say this as well, this share was around 90p/£1 at IPO institutions invested at that price & saw the potential.

But........they had problems with their ATM's as in planning permission, and indeed payphone usage went down a striking 20% at first interims after showing very steady decline before (see prospectus graph)

Not wholly the managements fault, but now I think investors can see after the hiccups that management are starting to realise some of that earlier potential when the company first came to AIM.

dell the market is telling me maybe some people picked up the phone and asked the company why the figures were as you reported. perhaps they did their research?

The market is also telling me, that investors are seeing the huge potential of the interactive side.

Hugely profitable, got nearly all the UK airports, doesn't that tell you something about the management?

They haven't even scratched the surface of Germany yet with interactive, or the rest of Western Europe for that matter, huge potential.

Also some very big hotel chains seem to prefer Spectrum, what does that tell you too?

You keep saying it dell & the price keeps going up.

I have explained my views in earlier posts.

Even if forecasts aren't met, these shares are not expensive, as investors are realizing.

Prospective p/e at 37p is 6.2

Even If they hit 1p less eps it's only 7.5.

The interactive side is the future & their profits were up 143%, despite heavy capital investment.

I can't paste it here, but you have to remember SYP have been bitten by Spectrum not meeting there expectations before, for instance the ATM's were supposed to be 150 by now, but they didn't expect planning permision restrictions. So SeyP are (I believe) pretty cautious now with their numbers, In fact I think the 5.9p eps will be beaten.

Also remember Germany will probably be turned around, a £93,000 profit would be a £186,000 turnaround & they have the internet growth to come.

Ring the CEO, he's quite cordial & talks to investors, if you wish for any points to be cleared up, as long as he's able to, (within FSA rules) he'll answer your questions.
