24/4/2019 16:35 | DPZ , dominoes pizza, one of their holdings is up 9.5% on good results | montynj
24/4/2019 11:08 | Very handy they keep issuing shares at slight premium to NAV. May the steady rise continue 😁 | thelongandtheshortandthetall
24/4/2019 10:54 | Nice bounce in NAV today | montynj
12/4/2019 10:52 | Greatballsoffire I bought equal values of Fundsmith Equity and LT Global. Averaging regional percentages results in current disclosures as US 48.61% UK 25.52% Europe 13.04% Japan 10.06% Cash 2.77% which for me is a good portfolio. I also hold SSON for mid-cap. | brexitplus
12/4/2019 10:44 | It'll also outperform of the markets take a turn. | villarich

03/4/2019 09:52 | Yes it is a core part of my holdings - if markets are good the portfolio he has assembled here will outperform - its as simple as that. I keep track of all the underlying holdings using share pad and its a quality portfolio. | nimbo1
03/4/2019 07:58 | Chucko1 Agreed. I bought at launch and am very happy. Current premium 2.5%. | brexitplus
02/4/2019 18:06 | Well, it makes a total mockery of those who complained about the initial performance and some initial (and continuing) holdings. Such people are destined to underperform and this is a salutary lesson, if ever there were one. Of course, the starting price premium was a headache, but there was a great opportunity late last year when it fell to 4% and the price returned to about 1000p. | chucko1
02/4/2019 17:08 | Remarkable few weeks here. Big Terry Smith fan | greatballsoffire451
04/3/2019 09:13 | Interims published today. Interesting holdings | brexitplus
25/1/2019 08:42 | Should add that I intend to hold Fundsmith pretty much forever. | mad foetus
25/1/2019 08:41 | I have held Fundsmith for 5/6 years and continue to do so. My average price was £1.60, so I am very happy with performance though I think the fees are excessive, though that is a different debate. | mad foetus
25/1/2019 08:40 | Sorry should have been do you hold Fundsmith? And if so for how long? (If you don't mind me asking). | villarich
25/1/2019 08:39 | How long did you hold Fundsmith? | villarich
25/1/2019 08:39 | I'm assuming you're a pretty intelligent person, therefore you won't have misread the Smithson prospectus. So you must be deliberately misinterpreting what it says to fit your views. It does not say investors have to wait 5 years for a decent return. It says it is aimed at investors who have a medium to long term time horizon. Like any value investing approach, they advocate holding for the long term to smooth out the peaks and troughs but ultimately they're looking to buy good companies. | villarich
25/1/2019 08:37 | I don't hold SSON, but Fundsmith made a positive return last year and not many funds did. FEET has been disappointing, but to say Fundsmith has been anything other than stellar is daft. It may have had tailwinds, but then, so did everything else. And it beat everything else. | mad foetus
25/1/2019 08:32 | How long were you invested in Fundsmith? | villarich
25/1/2019 07:22 | Statement re dealings in shares Smithson Investment Trust plc (the "Company") announces that it is satisfied that all inside information which the Directors and the Company may have to the date of this announcement has previously been notified to a regulatory information service. The Company is therefore not prohibited from repurchasing its own securities, or issuing new securities, during the closed period which ends on the date of the announcement of the Half-yearly Report for the period ended 31 December 2018. -------------------- | spacecake
24/1/2019 12:13 | 5 years is a ridiculous time scale to get a meaningful return, may as well buy income stocks, RDS would deliver 32 pc in dividends alone over that time without compounding. Woodford came out with all that 5 year drivel as a cover for the abysmal performance of his funds. Fundsmith which I had 230k in, now sold, has ground to a halt in sync with the US market, some of the tech stuff like Amadeus and FB have tanked, Feet is a load of rubbish and to be honest this looks pretty average. I like TS but some of the disciple like posts on here are daft. | porsche1945
11/1/2019 09:22 | Now that the company has started issuing more shares, the premium has fallen from 10% to 4%. It might actually be worth buying soon, if the premium continues to fall. | biggest bill
07/1/2019 13:59 | Villarich, it is impossible not to agree with what you say. In fact, and I do not wish to sound unpleasant, some comments on this board are utterly absurd. Either one agrees with his thesis or one does not. If not, why bother yourself with the board (other than to argue that his thesis is outdated, misplaced or misapplied). And if you do agree, then I suppose only misapplication is applicable. That would be where posters here wonder why he has included certain things in the portfolio. Impulsiveness, perhaps? - really? | chucko1
07/1/2019 09:43 | Also, looking at an s&p tracker ETF, that would have given a TR of +48.4% over the last 5 years.Fundsmith? +134% | villarich
07/1/2019 09:38 | Fundsmith Total Return last 12 months = +2.32%FTSE 100 TR = -7.89%I'd call that out performing the market. Not sure if you have an agenda but Fundsmith and Smithson make it clear they take a value investing approach and are there for long-term investment. The Smithson prospectus made it clear the investing horizon was a minimum of 5 years so not sure there is any point in bashing the trust after a couple of months. I do see benefits in picking stocks myself too though but not exclusively. I have a portfolio that has value funds like Fundsmith and this, along with my own picks. | villarich
05/1/2019 12:25 | More funds operating than companies, more automatic algorithmic trading than human thought driven actions, more money than sense ? | spacecake |
