18/6/2007 08:20 | Mas - Yup got AXO's divi thanks - don't know whether I will reinvest in anything at the mo! Trying to realise cash where poss as I am nervous about the markets generally - not de-ramping 'generally' as my nervousness is based purely on my personal situation & the recent strength shown by the market. If I have to miss a few opportunities, so be it. Currently I am over-stretched and too AIM focused! Sorry o't guys. | kneath
15/6/2007 13:34 | Mas In case you were wondering.... my point was that SMC must have been (as has since proved to be the case) wildly over-optimistic to be forecasting that much profit on similar turnover. Given what we now know, plus all the exceptional costs they must have incurred, they'll be lucky to show £3m PBT. | njp
15/6/2007 13:28 | Well look at Aukett Fitzroy Robinson (AUK). Their PBT this year will be circa £2.6m on circa £20m of revenue, they have no debt and circa £1m in cash. Current market cap is £23m and a PE of around 11 after cash is deducted. Then look at SMC. Sales last year of £31m, PBT of £1.6m, debt probably in the region of £19m plus possible DC liabilities which could be aroumd £12m. Current market cap is circa £16m so either SMC is still overvalued (we don't have a current profit forecast for 2007 yet) or AUK is undervalued. I know which one I believe is the better investment ! | masurenguy
15/6/2007 13:27 | nice one there Kneath.........well done on that profit and lol on the irony............did you sell before the divi date????????? the divi gets paid next Friday and there's the potential for those receiving the divi to reinvest it...........so I'm looking out for a decent rise next week........... ;-))))))))))) | blockbuy
15/6/2007 12:34 | Well, Fosters are No 1 in UK and report £5.9m pre tax. Kind of puts things into perspective. SMC were forecasting £8m pre tax before the latest p/w. | njp
15/6/2007 12:21 | Cut-out from Building mag re: Foster + Partners making loads of dosh this year!!!! 136% rise in pre-tax to be precise.........chee Architect group Foster (International) unveils £5.9m pre-tax profit (14 June 2007 12:00) Foster Group (International), the architect and designer, has more than doubled its pre-tax profit to £5.9m. Figures released today (covering the 12-month period to 30 April 2006) show turnover higher at £50m, representing a rise of £5m over the previous year. Pre-tax profit in 2005 ran to £2.5m. Foster has subsidiaries in Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Holland and Singapore. The group said that global demand in construction had lead to the latest surge in its turnover. Foster's stated strategy is to differentiate itself by "focussing on leading conceptual designs, creating signature buildings and enhancing the local environment." Cash in hand rose during the period to £3.9m after starting out at a much lower figure of just £370,000. Globally, the various geographical areas which contributed to the group's turnover were: UK (£23m); Continental Europe (£11m); North America (£7m); Far East (£3m); Rest of the World (£6m). The highest-paid director took home payment running to £2.9m, comfortably ahead of his £2.1m pay in the previous year. The average number of employees was unchanged at 630. | paulcaine2003a
14/6/2007 15:47 | Mas, cheers for that. I have noticed they have may a statement regarding reduction of headcount which clears a few things up in my view. 30 mil turnover last year via 655 employees. = 45k per employee, bit on the low side. My reckoning the wage bill is 16 mil with another 5 mil to keep the mobile bods in their cars & vehicles.(includes mobile costs, fuel etc) Hence a reduction of 10 field staff would save 500k straight to the bottom line.IMHO luchan. | luchan |
