06/3/2009 17:04 | das, if an institution with an in house trading desk wishes to buy or sell it can sit on the bid or offer side of these sets traded stocks and deal in multiples of small quantities without excess costs, at the end of the day it may have dealt a decent size in small bits. no dealing cost to it and the spread is very small. if the same institution tried to sell or buy in a single lump , it may move the market, which could be against its own interest. as most trades in recent days have been a/t trades ,and the spread has been tight,it looks to me that there has been both an active seller and an active buyer, using the same technique. | flyfisher
05/3/2009 10:05 | Out of 17 trades so far today 15 are less than 1000 shares. Don't understand it. | das9
04/3/2009 19:06 | This is a contrarian share atm: only goes up on bad days. Happyw: to-day also many trades in v small amounts (even down to 1 share!!) I can never understand this in that under say, £1000 worth each deal gets burned by the dealing costs. Some chunky buys near the close. | das9
03/3/2009 11:33 | BOT running but for very small amounts. Has anybody seen this one before? | happywanderer
03/3/2009 11:20 | A welcome plus sign for SDL on another grim day... | das9
27/2/2009 11:32 | What a strange few days. | spaceparallax

24/2/2009 14:32 | Yes, results great as expected. A bit of uncertainty/caution in outlook, but the profit taking on the rise was predictable too. No buyers in this market. | woracle
24/2/2009 14:28 | Yes, that's pretty much the situation - not to worry, SDL will weather it and recover. | spaceparallax
24/2/2009 12:49 | superb results, sh1tty market... | das9
24/2/2009 08:42 | Superb results - again! | spaceparallax
24/2/2009 08:15 | results at the top end of forecast range, excellent cash generation, and the weak £ assisting 2009. with about 41p per share net cash and no f/s pension issues , a trailing ex cash pe of about 8.5, looks good to me. | flyfisher
23/2/2009 10:12 | Woracle, PER 11 to 12 would have been lovely a couple of years back, but you're right to point out that it's no great shakes in these tough times where many sps have been slaughtered. That said, SDL have turned in very solid year on year performances for, which understandably command a decent PER. | spaceparallax
20/2/2009 21:13 | Blimey ... do people still take note of anything brokers say these days ! What worries me is a PE of 11 or 12 and no dividends and 93% of assets being intangibles is rich in this climate. So far, business seems to be holding up with 10% forecast growth in 2009, some of their blue chips and target blue chips have really started to suffer since Oct. We know business fell of a cliff for most sectors in Nov, so will IT spend be put on hold or cancelled for 2009. We know its easily done... 2008 wasnt an issue since Q4 revenues would have been for projects budgeted with implementation started much earlier. I wonder if this statement from Oct still holds.. "SDL has continued to see solid trading across most of its global markets and demand from the company's wide range of vertical sectors, such as IT, Automotive, Consumer Electronics and Pharmaceutical, remains robust." The outlook statement next week for once is gonna be totally unpredictable and rather than holding my breath in this unforgiving market I'm out today and on the sidelines until I know how resilient this business is in this climate.. Even if outlook is satisfactory, I can only see people using any spike as an opportunity to take profits. | woracle
20/2/2009 14:37 | Broker reiteration of Buy with 315p target. | spaceparallax
18/2/2009 11:26 | Superb recent rise and justified. However, we do seem to be losing a little momentum and could do with a little more good news to move up more. | spaceparallax
04/2/2009 16:02 | Lovely share this when its moving £4 next? ;) | cr4zyness
04/2/2009 14:09 | Go on SDL: there's lots of clear blue chart up there... Phillis: it's not so long ago that we were fighting the 200 level! | das9 |
