People too busy buying bitcoin to care about SEIT

That's fair enough hpcg. If you bought anywhere near the bottom at 52p you've had a 28% rise in the share price including the dividend in around a month. One might think it not unreasonable to expect a retrace back to 60p and as you imply even if that doesn't happen it's not like there aren't plenty of other places to put the cash to work.

I am minded to slice a few as well but I do honestly like the portfolio at this price and I think it will perform well regardless of interest rates. I'm not sure why the share price ever went to 52p in the first place but I was very grateful to get some down there.

The bigger question for me is not so much whether I think the share price but whether I can get more bang for my buck elsewhere.

Closed my spread bets today. Will observe post dividend drift, and obviously price has reached a natural place of resistance. Shares can hang in there. The bleeding obvious buying opportunity has gone for now.

11.4% for the stake-acquirer now, you wonder where SEIT would be without it.

Will they keep going once M&G are tapped out?

"Interim Dividend Declaration

SDCL Energy Efficiency Income Trust plc is pleased to announce the third quarterly interim dividend in respect of the year ending 31 March 2024 of 1.56 pence per Ordinary Share, covered by net operational cash received from investments.

The shares will go ex-dividend on 7 March 2024 and the dividend will be paid on 28 March 2024 to shareholders on the register as at the close of business on 8 March 2024."

I've never been won over by SEIT. Always thought it much more risky than it was marketing itself as. Taking PE type exposure on individual companies but not having the control a PE buyout would have. So more risk, but nothing like the upside - as can be seen by the lack of growth in the nav.

In any case, I note a 7m buy at 61.5p in the middle of the afternoon. So someone keen. And if it's General Atlantic, well they are a proper PE outfit and won't be doing it for the div.

I'm buying more today because, however you stack it, the BoD are implying 'Don't panic chaps, no big write downs and dividend is safe.'

The NAV at 90p and a 11.75% dividend yield allow enough wriggle room that, unless they are all a bunch of charlatans and fraudsters (and I'm confident that they are not), then I should make money from here.

Buy low sell high ;) But can't blame you - IMO the market's been way out on interest rate cut expectations, yet SEIT has barely adjusted up like some others have. As reality dawns, bloody SEIT goes back down.

But - again - if there's no nasties, it's very cheap, and pays us to wait. Tests our patience to wait too mind.

It's a tough business being a SEIT shareholder - added again today (only one trade showing).

Think of the dividend, think of the dividend....

I think a lot of UK investments 'like' SEIT are trading at big discounts for reasons that have been touched upon on this board. However SEIT doesn't seem to have seen any real recover despite easing of long term rates (opportunity or cause for concern?).

Jonwig. I don't doubt dividends are currently covered but my 'concern' (if that's not overstating it) is how vulnerable they are in the future. Anyway I've written to the company. Be surprised however if I get a substantive reply (if any at all), but we'll see...

As an aside, I really don't know why they bothered with the share buyback. £20m spent and did nothing to remove any 'overhang' in the market and only added 0.3p to NAV/share. I'd feel happier if it was sitting on their balance sheet...
