Hi CWA1, yes good idea, I am supportive of that idea. This is a quiet board!

Also, just wondered if there was any interest in a basic new thread but with charts in the header? The current one is fine but I do like charts, news, etc in the header. If there's a consensus that that is something that people are interested in I'll set one up, but no worries and will leave the current one if not. Cheers.

Morning All

Just had a few. Seemed to be plenty of stock about and wasn't hard to get a reasonable nibble(trade not showing on ADVFN yet). Hoping that isn't a bad sign that there's someone "in the know" offloading just as I am adding :-)

Now you've put me on the spot I've no idea where I saw it! Last year was the 19th and there's nothing on the events calendar...actually thinking about it I'm possibly wholly wrong as I think GMD is what I was thinking of!

well, there is no indication on their website that there is an update tomorrow.
Last year they released one on the 19th I think.
I would certainly like to see what the Christmas period was like particularly as I think they said they were launching a couple of new stores on Boxing day.

Thanks rhomboid. I hadn't realised there was an update tomorrow. Have you read that somewhere that I cant see? I was going to be adding more in the next week, thinking the update was more than a week away, based on LY's timing. Doh!

Yes I would certainly agree with Davidosh on ScS and WJG. The last update ScS gave in November was that LFL Order Intake was +5% v LY. There is an average lead time between taking the Order and Delivering it of 6-8 weeks (at which point the Sale is recognised). Given that lead time, the first half sales are pretty much "known". By my calcs there are three good "building blocks" which should move the profit forward: The +5% LFL, the very good performance from the new stores, and a "normalisation" of the store commission/bonus which was exceptionally high LY. I would hope and expect the first half profit to move forward by £2.5m-£3m on LY, and the Brokers currently only have +£0.5m growth for the FULL YEAR.

Along with SCS I hold RTC and WJG. Not looked at IGR but not overly keen on CRAW. So all in all I hope you win it!!

Is certainly cheap, with a good divi and no debt. Hopefully at some point there will be a good return. Good luck David.

Salpara11 - Thanks for that and also for the advice.

I am flat on SCS but it's got a nice balance sheet and good metrics, plus I've visited a few of their stores and was impressed by the staff/service.

The divi is approaching 9% and amounts to approximately 2/3 of eps which in my view is a little high. I would rather they trim it back to about 50% of eps which would still be pretty chunky.
I am a holder and despite the divi I am still a few % under water here but I am not letting go as there is plenty of room for disappointment already in the share price
It did not help that DFS got hammered when its private equity part owners sold a huge chunk of stock and still have a similar amount to go so their share price will remain under pressure until that is cleared.
While SCS is less profitable on a sq/ft basis they are still cheaper and pay a bigger divi.
On a side note Larva is a troll who hops around BBs, if you ignore it, it will go away.

Tight spread today.

CPR results are poor, but construct of balance sheet and company seems quite different at a glance.

My main worry for SCS is if there is pressure on the dividend, since as a holder, that provides a cushion for rough trading periods, can afford to take a hit in the share price a bit.

Not unless you get in touch with the thread originator David. Or start up a new one with a chart in the header.

140p today?

Thought for a moment I had missed a TS from SCS! Then noticed your comment seems to be on CPR. Can't really see the clear read through to SCS even if they are in the same sector and obviously share some sectoral concerns. Will be keeping my eyes peeled for bargains in case though!

Well, despite the very strong LFL increases at this time last year they still managed to improve by a further 5% and with the new store in Aberdeen doing very well I simply cant get my head around the rating here so I am topping up my stake.
It is not often that you get to buy a growth story with a divi over 8%.
