14/5/2015 14:08 | There is a surge in the share price today ; have the Institutional Investors woken up after their post-election hangover to realise this should be a must- have in their income portfolios? | wad collector
13/5/2015 10:34 | Still paying a 5.3% yield despite the recent rise , though the cover is rather obscured by last years accounting . I think the future here looks very secure for 5 yrs anyway , especially as this parliament will come under more pressure to secure the supply future. The technical worries about the new EDF reactors will help SSE as the Government will not want to discourage outside or inside investment in infrastructure. | wad collector
12/5/2015 06:41 | For reference, those previous highs are 08/01/2008 1702, 10/01/2008 1693, 22/05/2013 1690 & 09/01/2008 1687. The 2014 high was 05/12/2014 @1682. | skinny
12/5/2015 02:09 | Ta. I'm hoping this can break the 3 year high now. Yield still very juicy.. And they dodged the Scottish referendum and election results... | zcaprd7
09/5/2015 07:39 | great call Z. I had a feeling the Tories would do better than was being predicted, but, not for a minute did I think they would win 331 seats. Celebrated last night but got sore head this morning :) wllm | wllmherk
08/5/2015 15:05 | Yep. Just collecting my winnings from betfair. Made more holding here though... | zcaprd7
08/5/2015 09:47 | zcaprd it looks like you made a great bet! The rest of us will have to make do with the benefits of the SSE share price rise. Surely once the brokers have sobered up , this will soar over £17 soon. | wad collector
08/5/2015 09:20 | Good Result! | philo124
08/5/2015 07:53 | Expect big rise in share price today after election result :) wllm | wllmherk
06/5/2015 12:42 | Wllm , sold my PFG at a marvellous £23 or so , hoping to buy back in , but regretted the sales as it carried on up. Still share price here remarkably calm. Friday morning should be interesting. | wad collector
06/5/2015 01:35 | Put my bet on a tory majority. 13 to 1. See how that goes! | zcaprd7
05/5/2015 22:54 | Lets hope he doesnt get to be PM Red as I can see him trashing the economy. I will be rooting for a Tory majority or another Tory/Lib Dem coalition wouldn't be a disaster. Could be an interesting few weeks. wllm | wllmherk
05/5/2015 19:46 | wllm Regrettably Millipede doesn't understand the concept of shareholders. He sees the banks and utilities as off balance sheet assets of government, and doesn't see the need for shareholders to get any return for their investments. | redartbmud
05/5/2015 19:30 | oh for a crystal ball wad. However, even if Miliband/Sturgeon win and these tank, I would be tempted to buy as they are not going to trash a blue chip stock, no matter how populist that might be. There is not a pension fund in the land that doesn't hold defensive utility stocks paying a chunky dividend, not to mention an army of small, elderly investors. I can see the share price fall, but, only temporarily and I will look to bag me the dividend in the Summer. That's my plan anyway. wllm ps-do you still hold PFG, I remember we both held at under £10 a few years bag, they are now £30 ! | wllmherk
05/5/2015 17:10 | Wllmherk , I can't decide whether to bale out for a moderate profit ahead of Thursday , or sit tight and ride whatever happens on a longer view. Suspect I will do nothing unless the share price moves more significantly than it has done. It is hard to believe that the share price does really factor in a Labour/SNP win , surely it would be lower? Or have I set my sights too low and a Tory re-election would take this to £20 ???? | wad collector
05/5/2015 16:53 | racg, lol! ...so it's not just me that found that repeated rather patronizing line irritating! | bountyhunter
05/5/2015 16:06 | Cant believe how well these are holding up, but, Im sure if Miliband and Sturgeon get the keys to number 10 then these will be sub £15 and I will look to take a position then. Anyone else on the sidelines looking to cash in on election jitters ? wllm | wllmherk
05/5/2015 15:18 | What's your name? Oh yes Jenny, I understand but I cannot promise to change the dreadful Tory position on diapers but be assured we want to go forward in that regard, (trips over), I believe in Britain. | racg
05/5/2015 11:41 | Tory 35% Lab 30% | mornington crescent
05/5/2015 11:16 | Makes you wonder why all the big ho-ha about the uk election when the eu decides so many things, and the mep elections just go virtually unnoticed. | pierre oreilly
05/5/2015 10:05 | Well ,I never knew that ! Hardly surprising I suppose | ignoble
05/5/2015 10:02 | "If they want to be seen to help Householders with utility bills ...why not remove the 5% VAT ? Too easy ?" They would need permission from the EU, so not easy at all. | stevie blunder
05/5/2015 09:28 | If they want to be seen to help Householders with utility bills ...why not remove the 5% VAT ? Too easy ? | ignoble
05/5/2015 09:21 | Hasn't been as much volatility of these as I expected in the Election build up .Sitting pretty much in the middle of the last year's trading range. | wad collector
30/4/2015 07:41 | whats the odds zcap ? | wllmherk |
