04/3/2020 10:29 | Intu properties update looks sad. Surprised this one has not fallen too. | my retirement fund
28/2/2020 08:34 | Went for AEWU instead - at 88.3p the 9% discount & 9% yield just irresistible. | skyship
27/2/2020 10:40 | Ah - so it is - thnx. Divi at the new rate of 0.7715p. PD 13th March. | skyship
27/2/2020 10:17 | ex divi today | hugepants
19/2/2020 15:56 | Hi CC2014 - add to your Monitor and consider a purchase at 53p or just below. As you will see from the chart in the Header, it presents a good swing trade down at that support. | skyship
19/2/2020 14:03 | Which helpfully explains where I am with this stock. Schroders performance over the last 8 years has not been great so what evidence do I have things will be any better going forward? Having said that I do like the long term fix on borrowing costs which could in 10 years time look like a stroke of genius. (or not of course). But if I wanted a bet on making money based on interest rates going up would I pick SREI? No probably not. But there again the risk of losing money should be very low. I'm not taken with the risk/reward given Schroders past performance but there's enough here to entice me to keep on eye on it. There's always another trade somewhere although right now nothing much seems to attract. | cc2014
19/2/2020 13:39 | Agreed, they've been seriously parsimonious since slashing the divi 30% in 2014. | skyship
19/2/2020 13:27 | I think they fell through the cracks! - I know that when I bought them they were yielding @8.95% - a return that sadly hasn't been maintained. | skinny
19/2/2020 13:10 | hmm - At 55.5p that's actually a capital return of just 4.5%pa. Certainly wouldn't match my objectives, even with the dividend included. Have you not tried trading the very obvious swings here? Still, you've done a lot better than just leaving your cash in the bank! | skyship
19/2/2020 10:46 | I've had these since 2012 @39p and will leave them where they are for now. | skinny
19/2/2020 10:33 | Out at 55.4. | essentialinvestor
18/2/2020 14:23 | Never wrong to bank a quick trading profit... | skyship
18/2/2020 13:33 | SKY - Thanks for the heads up on SREI, I followed you in and we must have exited at the same time. | spittingbarrel
18/2/2020 12:42 | Personally I only bought these as a chart swing trade (see chart in the Header), so happy to bank 3.4% in 3weeks. Sold at 55.3p... GLA | skyship
18/2/2020 10:00 | Thanks SKYSHIP. I have quietly held some of these since 2012 and have traded some giving me a good return on "free" shares now. Regards, Miranda | mirandaj
17/2/2020 18:53 | Available at 52.37 on the offer for a short time this morning. Better finish. | essentialinvestor
17/2/2020 17:08 | A good turnaround from the earlier weakness - down to 52p, then recover in the afternoon, closing out at 54p. | skyship
17/2/2020 09:09 | NAV & Divi declared - see Header: At 53p the YLD up to 5.82% on the new qtly divi of 0.7715p/share, but NAV discount down to 14.5%. | skyship
14/2/2020 13:14 | Sp turning back up - MACD again bouncing off support: free stock charts from uk.advfn.com | skyship
31/1/2020 15:56 | speeds - SREI discount actually 16% from 63.3p after the 5p write-off as the price of breaking their debt covenant. | skyship
31/1/2020 14:40 | Speedsgh I have SLI but not SREI but im trying to work out whether i should switch given the way the share prices have gone over the last few weeks so your post very timely. SREI has higher retail which im surmising maybe one of the reasons its under pressure. I initial parked them as i thought disposing of assets to fund the break fee was poor but maybe as its a contrarian move there might be some merit in relooking. | nickrl
31/1/2020 11:41 | Some open musings. Interesting to compare SREI performance with a couple of its peers, PCTN & SLI. The PCTN/SLI share prices have clearly outperformed SREI over both 5 & 10 years. PCTN currently trading at 8% premium to NAV (as at 30/9/19) SLI currently trading at 8% premium to NAV (as at 30/9/19) SREI currently trading at 22% discount to NAV (as at 30/9/19) PCTN has had a steadily increasing dividend since 2014, up 16.7%; over the same period SLI had a single increase of 2.5% in 2016; SREI had a single increase in 2018/19 with the prospect of a substantial increase of 19% announced in the interims at the end of Nov. This increase in the annualised dividend from 2.60p (0.65/qtr) to 3.10p (0.775p/qtr) should come into effect as of the next payment covering the Oct-Dec 2019 quarter, payable in Feb/Mar 2020. PCTN forward yield (assumes DPS 3.55p) is 3.5% SLI forward yield (assumes DPS 4.76p) is 4.9% SREI forward yield (assumes DPS 3.10p) is 5.8% Taking into account that SREI's current investment manager is unchanged over the past 10yrs+, the question is: can SREI turn around their underperformance, currently reflected in the wide discount & higher yield; if not, does the higher SREI yield adequately compensate for possible continued underperformance? Disclosure: have a long term holding in PCTN; do not currently hold SLI/SREI | speedsgh
30/1/2020 16:19 | Trebled by holding at 0.5261. If we are looking at a global pandemic, the market will be on sale next week. Only fair to say. | essentialinvestor
29/1/2020 15:40 | cc2014 - I'm new to the party here, as of yesterday's low. Thanks for the review. I think however that the £90m cash that you refer to is in large part an undrawn facility and not sitting idly on the balance sheet. | mushypeas |
