On Green shares........

SOLA has risen 6.5% so far today on Q1 figures.

Looking to be a no-brainer for all green portfolios now.

I particulalry like this bit

"Chief executive Lyn Miles said the Spanish contract would use less than half of its capacity, and the company was scouting for more international deals to sell the energy-producing "photo voltaic" glass, following moves by European governments to set carbon emission targets."

That means it has more than 16 million Euros of capacity

The 8% drop in sales is expected to be reversed in the full year results:

Lower sales and higher magins with good orders. That's fine by me.

About sla, a different beast. I wonder how it will fare once the supply of silicon, reckoned to be readily available in 2008. Won't affect us as much. Whilst selling price will be reduced, so will cost of raw materials and extra sales should even things out.

150K trade appeared - not clear if it is a buy or sell. If a sell it must have been from early in the day, as the price has not been affected

ok pawdaw - I still disagree.

"I said there was barely enough to justify the recent 50% increase. "

I say there is

Can't understand the negative posts - the Spanish deal will on its own transform the co. On a quick back of the envelope calculation gross profits could increase fivefold as a result. Imagine if they tie up more deals like it.
Back in this am.

Asparks, please read and try to understand before you write. Where did I say the share price would drop 50%? I said there was barely enough to justify the recent 50% increase. But maybe there's enough in the results to justify 30% or 40% increse on the price of a few months ago. So FWIW I was expecting the share price to drop 10-15% in the aftermath of these results, by the end of the week say, and am not at all surprised by the 5% or so drop this morning. I remain a long term holder.

pawdaw I do disagree. "Please read before you write"

Your wrote:
"Results are OK but barely enough to sustain or justify recent 50%+ rise in share price So expect the share price to fall back with usual amplification supplied by MMs. However, when you consider that 1 contract alone will be worth almost £10M pa (i.e. significantly more than current annual sales) and that it's in their high margin end of the business, then...
So I'll take today's likely drop in share price on the chin and stick with it for a year or three, or five. It does look like a no-brainer long term. "

I am saying I do NOT expect a fallback - certainly not 50% as you claim

Asparks, you don't disagree! The big contract is for Powerglaz which is what I was obviously referring to - please read before you write.

pec - they are different type companies so cannot be directly compared. One recylces solar wafers, the other makes BIPV

I've topped up a little!!

Well I am pleased to have retained my short position, on the basis of the results I can see a drop to 150 levels again.
