Coats plc: Disposal of Bedwear

The Coats Board announces that, following a request from Avenue Acquisition plc,
it has discontinued discussions for the possible disposal of the Bedwear
business.

Avenue Acquisition plc has indicated that, on the assumption that its offer for
Coats is successful, it intends to develop the Bedwear business under Avenue
Acquisition ownership.
