Disappointing to see this bobbing around between 950p and 980p for so many months. It's missed out on most of the gains enjoyed by the FTSE since the summer.

I have been in RCP for a number of years but there seems to be strong resistance around 9.70 level and so am thinking of moving on.

I guess past performance is not necessarily a guide to the future. Whodathunkit?

Lookin' at them thar charts, with the faith that past performance is a useful guide to the future, we might hope for this downward excursion to end soon and be followed by a surge up to trade above 11.

Is RCP the magic investment trust recently tipped by the Price Report as punted out by Money Morning today? As ever with these 'tip sheets' the actual name is not given unless you sign up. But the 'hints and evidence' suggest RCP is Price's punt.

Today's statement shows they've gone more liquid, over £500m cash out of about £1500m assets. The £10 NAV at end of year could be reduced say 5-10% if the private equity funds that make up 30% of NAV have fallen 20-30% since 30th Sept when they were last valued. So current share price of 925p seems about right.

It will be intersting to see what they do with that £500m!!!

not a great year for RCP, but take a view back to 1987 and they are still good, however they need to keep on the ball in 2009, they have cash and will be able to take advantage of situations as they arise but I still reckon we could see a few cuts in valuations and until we have a clear view of what they hold I will watch from the side,
just my own view. I see opportunity next year to make real money, it is all in the timing and picking the right stocks/sectors, as we all know,
good health, happy and prosp new year
