05/2/2015 22:50 | Clearly an insider trader. Bad disguise. Ball closed up 9% , which is good news . I suppose looking at this with hindsight ( and I congratulate myself for posting this as a buy on Friday - sadly did not hit my limit on Monday!) the offer is merely at last years high. | ![]() wad collector

05/2/2015 13:54 | I see Ball have made their statement - it does not specify a figure but suspect that is just the American way. I see they have annual sales around twice Rexams . Encouragingly , their share price has opened up 4% . I think that is good news - when both companies share price goes up on announcement. Unlike some other doomed takeovers like BBY. I am holding on . | ![]() wad collector

05/2/2015 13:03 | SP now 550, 610 is the price being discussed, 60p difference reflecting the will they won't they risk. | ![]() dr_smith
05/2/2015 13:03 | YEEEHAH! Just saw the Ball 610p offer statement. The share price has dropped back to 550 which reflects the uncertainties. It is always difficult to know what to do in these situations and I think the sell half now is a very reasonable one. I would have if I had seem the 570p peak an hour ago , but now I am going to watch closely instead.... | ![]() wad collector
05/2/2015 12:52 | Just wondered because Ball is US listed . | redips2

05/2/2015 11:42 | so I am very happy that what I have has increased (5% of Port before increase)but was thinking of increasing a bit on the recent dip, but did not. Now, when to sell, not easy, usually a bit early with T/O and miss some gains, but if it falls through. Guess sell half and wait may be the most logical. good news for those holding | ![]() drectly

05/2/2015 10:53 | Is Rexam in play? A rumour surfaced yesterday that US private equity could be interested in a punt for the can maker. Rexam rose 8.7p to 447.6p. From yesterday's Independent. Not a lot to go on. | ![]() wad collector
05/2/2015 08:27 | Rumoured M&A in The Times market report, looks like it has legs. Company should respond with this type of rise. | ![]() alchemy30

30/1/2015 17:12 | It does seem odd ; this is a 3 yr low now. Energy costs are falling(Except perhaps in Brazil) , and the production of both Al and the can production are hugely energy consumptive. The World is still consuming a lot of packaging materials. I don't know about a profits warning , but I am tempted to add on Monday . It is now yielding 4% . Broker profit forecasts for this year (For what value they have!) point to about 34p EPS for this year which would cover the dividend 2X. I think they are a big enough player in the market to survive the currency and demand headwinds and still look a good long term bet. I have held them intermittently for 15 yrs or so , and see a reasonable adding point. Mind you , I said that 3 months ago! | ![]() wad collector |
