Raytheon Awarded Phase Two Contract for Nano-Composite Optical Ceramics Project

TEWKSBURY, Mass., Oct. 29, 2009  /PRNewswire/ -- The Office of Naval Research has awarded Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN) a $6.9 million, phase two contract to develop a new class of nano-composite optical materials.

This continuation of the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency Nanocomposite Optical Ceramics project will be performed over the next 18- to 24-months and is aimed at enhancing missile performance with full infrared transparency, unrestricted seeker performance and greater mechanical durability.
