08/8/2019 13:09 | COBALT FREE BATTERIES "A freshly funded battery startup aims to ease the cobalt crunch" "Conamix, a little-known startup based in Ithaca, New York, has raised several million dollars to accelerate its development of cobalt-free materials for lithium-ion batteries, the latest sign that companies are eager to find alternatives to the increasingly rare and expensive metal." "Conamix is developing cobalt-free electrode materials that would work in existing manufacturing processes. The company didn't reveal the funding amount, but Bloomberg put the Series A round at $2 million. " "Tesla's battery partner Panasonic announced last month that it's also working to develop cobalt-free automotive batteries. Others companies like LG Chem, Samsung, and Johnson Matthey are shifting to new chemistries with higher energy density and less cobalt " Cobalt future really not that bright then ! DYOR | torp
08/8/2019 12:58 | It was the Fed that made RRR price go down! Classic buffoonery that we have come to expect from the fat man. His laboured breathing tells me that the gravy train for one particular passenger may be nearing its final destination. | kemche
08/8/2019 12:47 | Miners Find Out the Hard Way Why Cobalt Is Called the Goblin 8 August 2019 Miners Find Out the Hard Way Why Cobalt Is Called the Goblin Shares in Chinese cobalt companies rallied on Wednesday as traders bet they’ll benefit from the higher prices caused by Glencore’s cutbacks. China Molybdenum Co., which also mines in Congo, rose the most in four years in Hong Kong. To be sure, Glencore isn’t giving up on Mutanda entirely. It expects to bring it back online in 2021 and is looking at a new mine plan that could boost production over the long term. The restart might coincide with electric cars becoming more popular with consumers, which would boost demand. Closing the mine is an easy decision to defend when it’s not making money, but it may get harder to justify if prices rebound, said Colin Hamilton, managing director for commodities research at BMO Capital Markets Ltd. Mutanda produced about 27,000 tons of cobalt last year out of a global total of around 135,000 tons, according to trading firm Darton Commodities. | noirua

08/8/2019 11:21 | Another article here explaining the extent of this awful cobalt depression. WEAK COBALT OUTLOOK "A Japanese trader told S&P Global Platts he expects weak cobalt market conditions to continue due to ongoing slow demand and oversupply." "At the moment, cobalt consumers are taking a wait-and-see position in the market. They purchased a lot before, demand is slow and weak, but demand will come back in two or three years from the electric-vehicle battery industry," he said. "The suspension of Mutanda should put a floor under cobalt prices given the extent of production removed from the cobalt market, which is likely to make purchasers nervous," Hamilton said. "This effectively removes the surplus we have in the cobalt market over the next couple of years." So 2 to 3 years I personally can't see this helping RRR's DRC ventures going anywhere any time soon. What is there left to ramp here???? Greenland failed and was sold off for just £1 Ivory Coast went nowhere Shoats Creek failed and is being written off Steelmin has failed and is in Administration El Limon royalties are paltry and pretty meaningless Migori license got revoked and they are still fighting to get it back Meanwhile this BOD spent approx. £850,000 just on Admin expenses last year They also frittered away a further £1.1m on an unsecured loan to Steelmin which they didn't RNS to shareholders. That money is now lost imho. They also made loans and transactions with Amulet Diamonds which they didn't RNS to shareholders which they have since said they expect to write off. Things really don't look very good at all to me personally Extremely glad I didn't fall for Noirua's ramping nonsense and punt this POS ! DYOR | torp
08/8/2019 10:37 | Noirua, echos what you have been saying all along and makes some others comments a little redundant. Guess what Torpee, Cobalt prices heading for 10% rise this week. | clunes100

08/8/2019 09:17 | You just couldn't make it up could you scally ?!! Clowns every last one of them but the experienced can see the utter desperation in their antics and nonsense posts which for me suggests extremely highly that there is a placing being lined up which they have participated in. This sudden and imho disastrous news for DRC cobalt, is therefore badly timed for them. I wonder what price the next lot of useless confetti will be at? My guess is 0.40p. So I'll personally be watching out for lots of trades around 0.45p which will imho likely be placess flipping for a quick 10% profit. Of course you may choose to believe that Bell will sell down some of the crown jewel JMS shares instead of diluting shareholders with useless confetti. Believe what you will, each to their own. After 7+ years following this BOD's antics I've found them to be pretty predictable TBH. DYOR | torp
08/8/2019 06:12 | so a large cobalt mine closing because of the collapsing price is a plus point for building a new one (assuming you find cobalt in sufficient quantity). That takes the biscuit. I thinks that's about as likely as Mount Ida Royalties being > $1 | new_scally
08/8/2019 00:17 | lol at Noirua and Ettie. You failed at mining iron ore in Greenland Failed with gold in Ivory Coast Failed with gold at El Limon Failed with oil in the US Failed with steel in Bosnia It's just a long list of failures Except that from the BOD's perspective they're all successes because they each enabled the expenditure of a ton of cash on admin and other expenses. Nothing for shareholders though except endless dilution and an utterly destroyed share price. What next? Yet another share consolidation, rinse and repeat?? When is the inevitable placing? Obviously imminent given Noirua's manic behaviours today imho. Same old, same old And as for scaremongering???? This POS share doesn't need it. The BOD actions, especially concealing loans and transactions from shareholders, is enough to ensure it's a disaster for shareholders. Just 4 trades today, 3 of them sells Just 4 trades yesterday, 2 of those sells 2 on the 5th 2 on the 2nd 2 on the 1st Yep this share sure is the big time !!! Really, how are you planning to get another placing away? There just aren't the mugs out there to take up the useless confetti. Vulpes pilum mutat, non mores DYOR | torp

07/8/2019 23:40 | Torp/kemche, there is a video in the header to watch old chap. Be a good man and listen to it. Then you will see and understand the whole picture. Remembering one big mine closing means less cobalt and a firming of the price. | noirua

07/8/2019 23:31 | Have you learnt nothing at all from the coal debacle at RGM you numbskull? But never let it be said that you learn from your mistakes - as has been proven time again at every single one of your companies. Utter charlatan! | kemche
07/8/2019 23:29 | I'm afraid your scaremongering about a cobalt mine closing, the world'd biggest, has flopped Torp. All the small cobalt miners are celebrating the good news. | noirua
07/8/2019 23:28 | Secondary coal recovery from slag heaps is a tried and tested method where risk is low and the napkin numbers are good.
