Notice £18m of annual pension obligations unwind in 2025 so we dont need to wait until 2028 for the whol lot to unwind. Thats an immediate 10% share price rise in itself so id like to think todays rise has legs and we can start to look forward finally

Has anyone seen any broker updates ?

The PPT is now on their website, just register your details and get it:

Page 14 and 18 are particularly good reading.

Use of cash is (148) million.

But once the HLI and Pension savings start to kick in, then that use of cash is about 62 million. Subtract from the 113 million generated, that gives 50 million extra cash every year.

They could double the divi with that and still have 25 million left to develop the business.

Exploring AI as a tool

"At the start of 2023 the conversation around how businesses and media organisations use AI was only beginning to take shape. Our editorial leaders created a cross-functional workstream to manage this complex issue, exploring the many opportunities while also gaining a firmer understanding of the risks. Their primary focus has been to test tools that help journalists to tell their stories more quickly and effectively. As a result of this work, the team has identified several areas with strong potential, such as spotting trends and analysing large volumes of data.

We have steadily increased our use of AI through the year, while carefully controlling its roll-out, and by the end of 2023 over a dozen newsrooms were set up to use an AI tool to support their work. As we continue to test AI's potential, we ensure that every story is edited and approved by a journalist, maintaining our commitment to responsible journalism."

We were 85p in October. Better shape now. Dividend maintained and 6 months closer to interest rate moves and inflation dropping

Yep, I took some at the open, around 61p. Didn't think I'd be able to.

Took my average price down by 10p. Should have had a load more.

When the market realises importance of first-party data post 3rd party cookies phase out, this will rocket imo. Dyor

"Our tech and commercial teams have played a key role in supporting our discoverability challenge, further developing in-house recommender tools powered by AI that point readers to content we know they'll be interested in. One of these tools alone has reduced customer bounce rate by over 10% and generated 2bn page views through the year. Our in-house first-party data capabilities, in particular our proprietary Mantis tool, will stand us in good stead as Google continues to phase out third-party cookies, a process we have now seen beginning in 2024. This will be a major shift in the landscape for publishers and advertisers, who for years have depended on third-party data to target their advertising. We will be significantly ahead of the curve on this front, with 12.3m registered customers, of which approximately 4m are active over each four-week period, and advanced capability to effectively place advertising using contextual targeting."

Clearly it’s dropped too far . 12% dividend when the market opened and they are clearly maintaining it and imagine what it could be in 2028

I wouldn't call them 'good' results. The decline continues. 1st qr also forecast to continue decline. No mention of further cost savings to lessen the blow as there has been in the past. Only a vague suggestion that we will be back to growth in the future and we have heard the jam tomorrow too many times.I don't know how the market will react. Yield over 10% may help

Results look OK and dividend has been maintained.
Hopefully the market was expecting worse and the share price advances today

Harry, I agree totally normal. Neither aticle said it was Reach that sold the building. They probably sold it to a developer years ago and it was ghe developer selling. So nothing of interest to current shareholders.
Unless someone knows different of course.

hxxps://www.betterretailing.com/strong-january-newspaper-sales-attributed-to-post-office-scandal/

The latest ABC figures show strong newspaper sales in January, which might be connected to the Post Office Scandal.

ABC figures for December show a significant improvement in the declining sales of Sunday newspaper titles, even as weekday circulation struggled.

In December, the overall circulation of Sunday newspapers fell by 0.6% month on month and 11.2% year on year. This was almost half the rate of decline month on month in November, and is a significantly lower rate year on year.

gfae, the sale of property has been part of policy for years and as you know they have been centralising the regions to enable this. It appears normal to me.
