21/3/2006 12:01 | Ramillar, re RAB Special Situations FUND - closure to new capital: As a subscriber to RAB Special Situations FUND, the underlying FUND in which RAB Special Situations plc (RSS) is invested, IMO I do not see a problem, because the approx $1bn FUND will continue to conduct its investment programme, taking profits on the way, and re-investing, in the best interest of its subscribers - which is to grow the net asset value of the FUND. RSS simply rides on the back of this performance. When, probably rather than if, the 20m RSS "A" warrants are exercised on 31 May, the injection of at least £23m of capital into RSS will presumably in turn be invested in the FUND. The notice period for redemption for Special Situations FUND subscribers is 180 days following the next quarter day, ie minimum 180 days, maximum say 270 days, so IMO it is highly improbable that closure to new capital will precipitate redemptions. The "assets in the strategy" published monthly certainly show no signs of outflow, after adjusting for increase in NAV, probably the opposite in fact. I do not think that the decision to close the FUND to new capital is irreversible. All IMO. Do other contributors agree with these comments? Regards. | exmooroil

20/3/2006 17:31 | hmmm. that's got me. later tonight i'll recheck the admission doc. but am sure that some sort of hedge in place against dollar. | rambutan2
20/3/2006 15:46 | rambutan2, Under note 20 of the accounts published today, RSS clearly states that the company does not hedge against the movement in forex rates. This appears to be at variance with the admission document as you advised earlier. Can you confirm this? Regards. | exmooroil
