I think science has really conquered the art of manufacturing and managing death. Most modern wars seem to be a morbid celebration of technology. Fireworks and sacrifice.

I don't think science can destroy what it doesn't understand. Genetics may be the blueprint of our overall design but the creation of life itself still eludes science. We may find even deeper spirals within the genes themselves but we'll only go further down the same rabbit hole. I don't think science has a language adequate enough to explain it.

Even if they let off every nuke and tried to destroy the entire globe, would you like to take a bet that life would be wiped out entirely? I wouldn't - and not just because I wouldn't be around to collect.

There's a lot we don't/ can't understand- and I don't have a problem with that.

Re the submarine and the tuna, it's a case of horse for courses. The tuna has evolved and adapted propulsion and weapons such that it is capable of a speed and maneuverability that allows it to catch prey efficiently. The nuclear sub may need to improve but it is still unmatched when it comes to hunting and destroying surface based vessels- almost as impressive in conception as the lung fish first flopping onto the beach. All these things are still developing- science as an extension of human development.

In a similar situation, if I wear roller blades, I can move at greater speeds than if running or walking- but you wouldn't find me wearing them when going around the supermarket or climbing a hill.

Mechanical devices can be used and discarded at will- but just as well, because they are very specialized. When it comes to all round performance, you still can't beat the billions of years life has spent developing itself on Earth. Life also retains it's 'magic formula' which science is still unable to copy despite modern efforts at GM- probably a good thing too.

I am a prophet in my very own world!What more evidence do we need than Mr Ron Isaki of QXL fame buying over 3% of ADVFN and we subsequently see large trades going thru(approx 30% of the company traded since disclosure).Who else is buying? It is entirely possible that the Isaki group of investors (as they were known in QXL) are buying? If so, what is their intention?

buy Online plc.It has 18.5% of ADVFN. Online's price relects a 50% discount to the full current value of the shareholding. Not justified in my view.Definitely worth a punt.

Approx 25% of ADVFN taded in the last 4 weeks and all of this after Mr Isaki announced his stake.It seems to me that somebody wants ADVFN.Who and what price will they pay?

Investment website ADVFN, unchanged at 2¾p, said after the close that Ron Izaki had taken a 3.26 per cent stake.

Mr Izaki is best known in the UK for building a stake in the online auctioneer QXL before it was acquired for $1.9bn.
