01/12/2014 14:01 | Bit of a hit today. Not sure if further revelations about world cup bid, or oil price slide is the issue(although I recall that very little of the fund is invested in oil/gas companies/sector). Perhaps oil price slide is perceived to damage the Qatari economy generally? | gargleblaster
29/11/2014 20:02 | To be honest never even noticed those tender offers, bought purely on the Qatar economic prospects and a compelling chart; can see why it obviously appeals. Myself quite content trading batches for anything between 5 and 10% gains around a core hold; happily reduces my average stake each buy/sell. Edit - learned that well in RST, similar chart, only got wrong footed once over several years, gave me circa 500% gain and still playing it. See hopefully similar though maybe not so spectacular prospects here. | riggerbeautz
28/11/2014 16:57 | pyemckay - thanks, had forgotten about that as did not take up the offer. This seems to keep nudging up - am looking to hold until is at a premium to nav - which I think will happen eventually Rigger - I agree with buy the dips - but can't see any reason to sell for the fore-seeable. | gargleblaster
28/11/2014 08:12 | look at the rns from december last year regarding tender offer. you could sell 10% of your shares at Nav-1%. | pyemckay
27/11/2014 23:53 | py - sorry for my ignorance but can you explain what you mean? BTW I have held the stock for a couple of years. | gargleblaster
27/11/2014 21:05 | Tender offer should be coming our way in the next week. nov 27th was this years deadline from memory. | pyemckay
27/11/2014 20:37 | My rating is hold a core stake and buy the dips, sell those buys on a decent profit, rinse and repeat. Worked ok so far ;) | riggerbeautz
15/11/2014 18:30 | Well the reality of the effect in the real world of having/not having the 2022 W Cup has been commented upon by QIF, viz.it will make no difference, the Qataris are going to spend c$180BN. However I do think the QIF share price would tumble on adverse news on this subject. I think the world gas price/ oil price is more of a concern. My rating fwiw, HOLD. | philo124
15/11/2014 16:30 | Given that Qatar (and Russia) have been cleared of any wrong-doing by that exceptionally dodgy organisation known as FIFA, it should mean that they continue to retain the world cup. We might have expected a positive move in the SP, but given that there has been virtually no change - perhaps the world cup is not so significant as far as QIF is concerned after all (or perhaps everybody was expecting the FIFA stitch up). | gargleblaster
05/11/2014 17:38 | Wish they would buy SBRY. Went to Doha for last new year, liked Doha a lot. | philo124
05/11/2014 17:13 | Pending all out war in the Middle East is about the only thing that will change that. This is a relatively calm ignore the noise and posturing play, just look at the chart, general Qatari progress likely for the next few years and believe. Read the other day it's the Qatar Sovereign fund after the HSBC building, this country has so much spare cash they are trophy hunting now. Even if the trophy is a shambolic entity. | riggerbeautz
05/11/2014 13:19 | Could break out with the 2022 World Cup rumour of it being held in a cooler time of the year but still in Qatar. | philo124
29/10/2014 07:32 | Good update and good read! | philo124
16/9/2014 22:03 | This is a solid low risk core hold for me, unless there is a major market meltdown or nuke war out there - in which case we might as well all give up, don't see much that will destabilise Qatar for a few years | riggerbeautz
16/9/2014 21:38 | Continuing $ appreciation will help. | philo124
16/9/2014 20:56 | Yes, still on a large discount so pretty good value. | topvest
16/9/2014 07:35 | Very detailed results. | philo124
11/9/2014 20:30 | Yes, all been very positive here. Qatar has a lot going for it, so about time this company started to create value for holders. | topvest
11/9/2014 20:05 | 11th September surely? | philo124
08/9/2014 15:15 | $1.40. 2,000.000 Buy. | philo124
03/9/2014 14:03 | Chart speaks volumes and they keep buying those shares. | riggerbeautz
22/7/2014 08:05 | Absolutely, minor impact on stadia building, rest of the economy would carry on. Might monitor the securities eft, not normally a fan of them bar odd exception, but in a broadly bull market it could be an exception. | riggerbeautz
22/7/2014 07:35 | Good detailed report with comment re 2022 World Cup. | philo124
02/6/2014 09:22 | Like it's never happened before? | riggerbeautz |
