Posted at 25/6/2004 12:05 by mylands Don't know if many investors in PAS understand how they operate. They take a percentage of the player's wages, not of any transfer fees. This means they benefit when a player's wage rises and they get a continuous income stream as opposed to erratic income dependant on infrequent transfers. |

Posted at 29/4/2003 08:03 by flc Looks more like a consortium of private investors who are close or have an interest. If institutions or directors were buying we would have heard by now. Given the size of some of the trades though whoever is buying must have notifiable interests soon. |
Posted at 05/7/2002 10:18 by cockneyrebel One other thing - the spread. The widest is 2p, the narrowest 0.5p.If you get caught with the spread at 2p at this level that's over 20% on a 9p offer. When the stock was at 30p, 2p spread maximum was around 7%. The wide spread doesn't entice investors into a risky stock in my opinion. CR |
Posted at 05/7/2002 10:01 by cockneyrebel Hi JonnyAD, yes, I still frequent this board on occasions. The statement today was an attempt to stem the fall and right that they should put out a statement. I think what has to be borne in mind is that this isn't the only Sports Management company to have its price hit. Sports Entertainment and Media have been walloped too. Kingsbridge announced a profit warniing today and said their sportd division was 'largely unaffected' - that sounds like it is affected a bit. PAS have said they expect to meet market expectations. If they do this they are on a PE below 5. This sounds cheap. My worry would be over several points. a) is this a general downrating of the sector - there are a lot competing with each other and PE's are falling across the whole equity market. b) the tales about managers feathering their nests by buying players managed by PAS who they have shares in dose not add to the quality of the company or city appeal. c) we won't know how these results look until the final results. If the results are good the problem there will be that buyers then have to look forward to interims that are grossly weighted to H2, so again there will be nervousness towards the interims. d) the company doesn't get any more open about the players it manages so this is a disincentive to many still. e) the whole knock on from ITV Digital is still swilling around and there has been a lack of transfer news recently which surprises me - I'd expected to hear of more closed season transfers especially after the World Cup, but perhaps these trasfer deals are not showing because of the World Cup delaying them and we may hear more. For me, PAS now offers greater value at greater risk. I personally won't be buying simply because I feel investors have become very risk aware and are looking for safe steady earnings rather than speculative big gains. Might get a boost if the previous press tipsters re-tip the stock to save their bacon but I think those sitting on loses might want to jump out on any peaks. I think you can estimate investors feelings by the reaction to the statement today. While PAS do offer value I just feel that a lot of investors don't want the risk in this market, especially after the disappointment of the interims. CR |
Posted at 08/5/2002 13:14 by mali7 Bought long time ago at 26p, thought, did a mistake when it went to 19p but then recovered to above 30p, took my profit at 29p, now at 16p seems bargain, but what will make it go up? It doesn't seem that management keep promises, as investors had high hopes, however as everything there is a bottom, will buy again when that's reached. Any suggestions??????? |
Posted at 29/4/2002 17:43 by cockneyrebel Wrong again 4D, call PAS @ 19.5p, went to 29p bid in a month. Your distorted memory sunny. And PMA you just can't make proper money on the spread is so wide and you pay a fat premium to buy or sell tiny amounts like 10K. And again, you called them at aroun 17p so how would you be up anything worthwhile. Of for boys like you with your paperround money but not proper investors. CR CDY - you've edited your thread PAL, I saw you pagerising my calls. |
Posted at 28/1/2002 17:06 by cockneyrebel Another 250K buy at the close after a 235K buy on Friday.Institutions nibbling? One thing that I think investors forget is that this stock floated last year and started trading around 40p. Last year was probably the worst year to float a company and as such, floats were on the cheap to attract investors. Hardly any companies managed to float. This has slipped to 26p now. The company has traded really well and probably deserves to be well above the 40p float price now. I personally think that will correct itself at the next results as there is now much greater awareness of the company now. I believe it got a write up in the FT a week ago too - so this should help. One of if not the most exciting stock in my holdings I reckon. CR |
