Not sure I agree on that prognosis for oil...the draws have started in the weekly data, albeit not as perhaps fast as hoped. Will see what the next 2-3 weeks bring.

Having said that, I think a lot of the twitchiness seen in recent weeks is just traders getting fixated on the US numbers, and not taking world stocks depletion into account.

The US figures are good for a headline, but they arent the be all and end all.

Anyway, the SETS book improvement I mentioned this morning has carried on, both in buy/sell order volume and depth.

Trouble is, whenever we get a promising day, it always gets trampled on by 2 or 3 days of shenanigans. If todays trend repeats for a few days, I might start getting optimistic that we have bottomed out here.

Tricky one this...Update likely decent but Oil very likely to head to $46Market still oversupplied even with OPEC cuts so an extension unlikely to help- apart from sentiment !Fundamentals likely to remain a while with US shale still adding rigs.PMO won't start shifting that massive debt with sub $50 oilMaking a substantial placing all the more likely

POO is marginally down, when the American markets open, from around 3pm our time if POO is going to take a knock that's around the time it drops if it does. I still think the shorters will keep going until the 15th just before the 17th may when Trading Statement is out. Then 25/26th OPEC meeting, if they all agree to extend cuts the share price will fly - frustrating week ahead

Shame that the first action of european traders was to sell down oil from nearly $50 to $49.30 in opening half hour.

PMO so far not succumbing to the algo menace, and in fact order book is a lot more balanced than of late, with buy side actually a bit higher for a change
