Finally seen one of the ZBD displays in action today here in Canada, and its very impressive.
The displays not only allow for efficient maintenance of price changes but allow stores to manage the ingredient content which is becoming extremely demanding for Grocery Store chains. The displays which are managed from the stores office are linked into the management software solutions systems so offer considerable savings in managing produce.
Fujitsu represented ZBD at a trade show in New York very recently.
Its all looking pretty exciting....
Anyone in large store retailing may want to get in touch with the company.
The future of product displays is here today.....

Completely agreed tiltonboy, I think an e-mail to M-Spatial might be in order. Revenue per hit would be massive, but we shall see.

I got sent this link too - a reference to M-Spatial and a link to a site "mylocalguru.com" which apparently is M-Spatial's from what the guy says. Can anyone more techie than me make head or tail of this?

riv,

A balanced view is always good. I just feel very good about PDT and wished to share it with other posters here so that do not miss out .

Chill mate.

Some of us never got the chance of a good education.

riv,

What we need to know is, what is the revenue model?

If it's a straight sale to the mobile operator I would be disappointed, but if it's a penny(or whatever) per hit, I would be happy.

Let's hope jtjh returns here, always good to have a balanced (though not overly cynical) view.

Here's the full report on M-Spatial's being voted 8th best company to watch in mobile - interesting to see its revenue quoted at £0.24m! Many of these reports quote figures two or three years out of date, so that may or may not be the case here. I suspect the latter, but with the way M-Spatial is expanding this may change quickly:

"Search has become one of the most hotly contested services on the internet, with Microsoft setting out to challenge Google's dominance. In mobile, however, the need for local information, as well as a search site that works well on a small screen, means this niche is still up for grabs.

The technology developed by eighth-placed M-spatial helps mobile subscribers not only to search the internet but to find local information, from concerts to traffic conditions. The company has lready sold its technology to three
of the UK's mobile operators."

Another intriguing snippet here:

"One of the fields attracting significant interest from the mobile networks is local search. Mobile Commerce, for example, feeds location information into search results in order to give consumers more relevant results. They, like
Trackaphone, market their tech-nologies primarily to the network operators.

This is a field that is going to develop rapidly. The more a phone knows about
where you are, the more powerful it is as a marketing tool. And from a personal
perspective the advantages will be enormous. Imagine never being lost. Even better: picture being able to go into town on a Friday night and instantly pinpoint the location of your friends. As for finding the nearest local services: you'll be spoilt for choice."

A pity that you cannot spell it correctly! You are unfortunately the small minded classroom bully without the intellectual clout to knock out a gnat!!
I would be grateful if you keep your vacuous comments to the other thread - I wait with hope rather than expectation.

Big word "perjorative" aint it ?

Well the exit came with CPS going for an underwhelming sum. It now looks that another exit is likely with the concomitant hike in traded volumes; let's hope this one is more successful. It is unlikely that we are going to get a spectacular performance any time soon or we would have seen some more director deals - Hook's transfer from one account to his pension scheme means that other directors could have been active. The fact that they haven't been active speaks volumes for me.
I have reverted to this thread because I'm not impressed with pejorative manner some seemingly honest posters are treated on the other one.

Hi rivaldo,

You always get one on any BB. I do not need to ramp this. Some people cannot
see beyond their nose.

tiltonboy, Yes looks like another seller has started. However, it looks like
sp will hold up as cannot see them having too many shares.

Some decent sized delayed trades to come through.

Another seller has hit the market, and has dealt today. We have had to pay higher levels than we wanted to yesterday, but at least we have got in at a sensible price(118.75p).

I think the seller has got a few left, but may hike his price for the next lot.

Well, the current NAV is now almost 150p so we have a good 30p or so to make up.

The City must have been reassured by the CPS sale price, which justified PDT's valuation process and therefore the NAV.

Once word spreads about the progress in the portfolio, and the renewed life in the management with the Esprit/Cambridge Consultants tie-ups, perhaps PDT will even trade at a premium to 150p. Another investee sale would do the trick nicely, but with 40% of the m/cap in cash there are a number of reasons to buy imo.

And please carry on hvs, your posts are refreshingly enthusiastic and make a change from all the usual cynicism.

This is trading at such a huge discount to NAV (& a massive discount to true value) that the recent share price rises are almost insignificant when you consider how much more this is worth.

hvs - I do hope that your enthuiasm is translated in to the share price, as PDT is my largest holding. It would be appreciated though if you would stop ramping and just post sensible comments! Thank you.

jonwig,

Thanks.

According to the Interim report, PDT also invested £171K in Sciona in November this year. This was reported as a post balance sheet event.

I think I will take it that they retained a similar %.

tiltonboy - will these do?
Corroboration from another poster would be a good idea, as they might have been superseded.

Prelude is investing as part of a new £8.3 million financing, led by Advent Venture Partners, which also includes other existing investors, Atlas Venture and Add Partners. Since 31 March 2003 Prelude has invested a further £256,000 in Phyworks increasing its total investment in the company to £1.6 million. Prelude now has an 11.8% shareholding in the company.

Prelude Trust plc ("Prelude"), the investment trust that specialises in early stage, technology-based businesses, has made a further investment of $1.4 million in Sciona Inc. ("Sciona"). The investment is part of a fundraising totalling $6.5 million with co-investors BASF Venture Capital GmbH, Burrill & Co., Bioventures Inc. and DSM . The investment brings Prelude's total investment to date to £2.8 million. Prelude now owns a 23% (undiluted) stake in Sciona.

Can someone help me. I'm writing a note on PDT, for internal use, and am looking for the % holdings in Phyworks and Sciona, and their cost/book value.

I know I'm being a bit lazy, but I can't seem to find them.

TIA

Nice rise - good to see the timing of my re-purchase was better than I usually achieve ...

I see DisplayLink is one of the 14 companies shortlisted for Business Weekly's annual award in March:
