Several customers in Australia and Europe are currently testing the product in various rigid and flexible applications. Whilst the resin includes a percentage of traditional polymers it will provide a broad range of functional properties. Branded eco Plastic(TM), the new product line has been designed to meet the growing world demand for a sustainable approach to plastics technology based on a significant level of renewable material that will reduce carbon emissions and deliver exceptional performance characteristics across a broad range of applications. The key advantages(1) of eco Plastic(TM) are that it contains approximately 40% renewable content, uses 25% less energy than conventional polymers, significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions and is compatible with conventional processing aids and colorants in Blown Film, Injection Moulding and Extrusion Blow Moulding applications. Plantic is working with a global leader in this major market segment with a view to negotiating agreements to sell and manufacture eco Plastic(TM) resins and to work in conjunction with this global leader to develop a new suite of renewably sourced products built on Plantic's proprietary resins. The evaluation programme by this leading global compounder has commenced and is expected to be completed during the first half of 2010.
