Why I like this stock is because its the only type on the ftse.Plus its like the Tesco of pet stores, all others are small independent stores which have disapeared.

No competition you having a laugh, use to buy my dog food at Pets at Home.
Now because I'm boycotting the store, local garden as a pet section, I buy it from there.

But surely with the massive market share it is a good investment. I mean without small pet shops; there is more or less no competition!!

Hmm, not feeling so comfortable with my buy now at 186!
This really has turned out to be a dog of a float.
Hard to place a fair value on it with the amount of debt that it carries as risk is much more difficult to price.
I will ride it out for now as I feel that I do at least have a chance of getting my money back in a month or two when the dust has settled.

After a 30% fall from IPO level looks like a recovery could be on the cards back to the £2.40 area.

Private Equity exists to screw people over.... buy companies using loads of debt (potentially leaving banks with the can)...taking out dividends and cutting costs... then selling on in an IPO at an elevated price.... all while taking huge performance fees from investors...

Just a screw everyone over industry.... with a high proportion of IPO flops... Southern Cross Healthcare or Yell for example... it is a very dodgy industry which makes its management rich and not anyone else..

I also sold out when it broke below 200p. The share price did not move up with the FTSE rally last week, so I am not surprised its taken a hit as the FTSE consolidates. A pile of poop!

All shareholders in the IPO should boycott the store I have.

Going down because montyhedge is boycotting the stores ?
How many other dogs has he got ?
I have avoided all IPOs since this dog and see no reason to change my mind.
Back in the good old days shares were offered at a fixed price which offered some hope for PI`s. Now it`s a case where they can fix the price high and still take our money.
Why not include "maximum price you are willing to pay" on the application.

There was a good article in the FT explaining why Poundland did well and Pets At Home did not. Basically it comes down to leverage. The owners of Pets at home loaded the business with a substantial quantity of debt which is easy to service at the moment with interest rates so low but represents a real risk further down the line.
I am looking to take a stake at 185 and have set a limit order as I feel that represents a fairer multiple going forward.
