13/10/2018 18:21 | The 50p placing does not necessarily mean that PV should be valued at 50p. What they didn't want is a situation like conviviality where they couldn't raise the money. 50p is priced to sell and fast and with the risks attached. | buoycat

13/10/2018 13:51 | Be wary, for the seas are rough and the depth unknown. Do not follow the one eyed man, for he speaketh with forked tongue. Better to stay on the island, wait for the next ship. If already on the voyage, then good luck and I wish all well. | goblin99

From £ 449 mill to Zero from £ 31 mill profits to now they say £12 mill (without exceptionals) lol !!!!!! The PV experience would have been wasted in Grimsby and Bradford but has been enjoyed in the CITY | hvs
13/10/2018 13:29 | I use Pret three times a week, all the staff are imports, usually from Poland who are very pleasant and obliging unlike the occasional English who are usually gone in a fortnight, you can see they are not up to the Pret required standard | johnwise
13/10/2018 13:22 | The Valerie experience would be wasted on Bradford or Grimsby and the shareholders who has been wiped out. | hvs
13/10/2018 13:12 | John, listened to the HR director of Pret last year say English nationals compromise about 1/60 of the job applications they get. If the UK is in future curbing low skilled EU migration, margins in leisure, hospitality, retail may come under some pressure. | essentialinvestor
13/10/2018 13:09 | Patisserie Valerie shops are for the more refined discerning customer ,The Valerie experience would be wasted on Bradford or Grimsby | johnwise

13/10/2018 12:58 | You'd imagine Johnson will probably be putting in a bit more than an afternoon a month from now on. I wonder how many of his shops he visited in a typical month before this disaster....... Did he have CAKE while he there ??? From £ 440mill to zero in 48 hours and no one yes one knows anything. From £ 31 mill profit forecast now £ 12 mill and that after this debacle , clutching at straws really. 13/10/2018 12:57 | This is all pretty shocking but the Conviviality meltdown was in my opinion much worse. How was it much worse here you have in 48 hours out of the blue from a DARLING of the CITY LUKE JOHNSON a complete shambles from $ 450 mill to zero from £ 28 mill in the bank to 10 mill O/D and needing another £ 20 mill so nearly £ 60 mill gone up in smoke and OPTIONs GALORE Firstly.........shar CVR was much bigger but went like this 08.03 trading update saying a 20% fall on EBITDA 09.03 DIRECTORS BUY 13.03 further trading update showing that EBITDA was still going to be 55 m 14.03 shares suspended 14.03 They find they owe HMRC 30 million By the month end a company bought for 150m is sold for a Quid Total wipe out for holders. At least Luke has given this a lifeline. Tiger | castleford tiger
13/10/2018 12:51 | CCNP I can only go by statistics. They show record employment and record low unemployment. Some actually like zero hour contracts - like the students who work in coffee shops (cake?). Obviously I wouldn't want these contracts to become the norm | knigel
13/10/2018 12:50 | The Times comments on winding up orders going back to 2010... If that's true then there's a lot of questions which need to to asked of the BoD... Who knew what and when... according to The Times, there are 3 other winding up petitions against PV subsidiaries, one dating back to 2010!!! "The subsidiaries Patisserie Valerie Holdings and Stonebeach have faced three other winding-up petitions in the High Court, as well as the one filed by HM Revenue & Customs last month, according to court filings. They include a petition from HMRC, filed in November 2010, that remains open, the filings show." | sikhthetech |
