sparty: thanks. I saw that advice further back in the thread and it was very useful.

JK: my understanding is they're awaiting permits to increase production - but the experts can probably expand on that.

Seriously, am looking at PDF and have been back through the thread but without finding anything majorly negative. Have I missed anything? Thanks.

"Our team on the ground is making good progress toward bringing this project to full production despite seasonally adverse weather and the usual logistical challenges. At present, the project is still on track to be at full capacity by the year end."

That from the last rns, diamond price going up and hopefully the next statment will be that the project is fully operational. They do say year end . :)

I`m just picking up a few here and there as cash becomes available. GL all

The risks and advantages of buying AT THIS LEVEL ARE WELL KNOWN. Nothing has changed since the price was 2.2p except an encouraging rns .People need to learn to buy cheaply and then super glue their keyboards ! LOL Just picked up a load at 1.53! very grateful for that. Good rns always seems to knock down the price ...
KEY POINT 1 average price of US$147.50 per carat. This represents approximately 82% of the Company's target price of $180.00 per carat, a target which was set prior to the fall in the price of diamonds, and is well in excess of the currently budgeted level of 70% of the target price KEY POINT 2 Our team on the ground is making good progress toward bringing this project to full production despite seasonally adverse weather and the usual logistical challenges KEY POINT 3
I am strruggling bto find the negatives for this at anywhere near 2/3p?
Bought more at 1.53 :)

well thats good for me cos i wont have any stock before feb! Diamonds will be the last thing to recover so they will be the area that i invest in last as i fill my portfolio again. However, i am not saying that the worlds economic problems will be solved by then simply that we may see the start of an increase in diamond prices.

Someone read this please ........

Key points from new CEO - nothing that we don't know already but worth a read if a newbie !

Kamstra, current operations manager, said Cassanguidi at full capacity should move the company to a cash neutral or even a cash positive position.

And if miner Rio Tinto, the world's third biggest diamond producer by volume, is any indication he could be right. Last month Rio increased prices by about 15 percent at one of its mines for the first time since the downturn hit.

Buy now at a rock bottom price if you fancy a educated risky punt !

All going to plan Cassanguidi should be generating enough revenue to cover its operational costs by October and would reach full capacity by the end of 2009. At that stage it should be producing 8,000 carats of diamonds a month worth between $120 and $130 a carat.

In South Africa PDF has completed a feasibility study on the Bakerville project and has submitted a mining right application.
Some key points from CEO Brett Thompson (sept 2009)

Bakerville has been put on care and maintenance to conserve cash while PDF waits for the grant of the mining right.

That could take up to a year in terms of the stated strategy of the Department of Mineral Resources but Thompson is hoping to get it faster than that.

He commented, "Bakerville is an exciting project and it's right on our doorstep so we would love to get it going. I would like to think we could get the mining right granted fairly swiftly. "

Thompson estimated the capital cost of developing Bakerville at $8m but added, " the company anticipates that given the favourable location of this project in South Africa a substantial amount of the equipment required could be acquired on financing terms."
