The problem with the control of this virus is.....the economic damage is seen as much more important than the cost to human health. Hence the lack of testing. The governments want to underplay the CoVid numbers.

Result....no detection, no control, more very sick people. Long term greater economic damage. Very sad.

"Like I've been telling you, Mr. President," it's going to take a year and a half, corrected Dr. Anthony Fauci. (Vaccine development).
Trump should be locked out of managing this crisis. Clearly doesn’t understand the difference between a vaccine and an antibody by infusion. Sadly some of the experts (see link to meeting I posted earlier) were just a bit too obsequious and did not correct him, unlike Anthony Fauci who I know and is the top expert.
Of interest the guy McCarthy whose outburst was noted yesterday is not a virologist but a mycologist. Best know n as a writer.
I know his boss. Wouldn't be surprised if he got a clip round the ear.

The NHS can't be using these test kits as all I'm hearing is it takes 3 days to get the results back

Funny how Boris and his mob were still letting planes land at Heathrow around 31st of jan without any checks at all, a friend of mine came back from touring China with a stage show on the 31st and he told me there were no checks at all at the airport not even leaflets handed out to passengers, he also told me there were roughly four planes every six or so hours arriving in Uk and this went on for another two weeks before any sort of checks/quarantine started happening, so we have possibly let in around 28000 passengers with no checks at all! No wonder they say we are looking at it getting much worse! Incompetence at its worst I would say!

UK getting prepared. NCYT won't provide enough test kits to isolate the infected around the world. - - -

New rules are coming out for payday loan company's. That they will not be able to offer pay day loans in a pandemic. If they do then the owners could face manslaughter charges if it results in someone being forced to work to pay back the loan and then becomes infected and dies, when they should of been in isolation.

At least the Royal Mail will continue no matter how bad it gets.
You can still even post to China.

I agree with you if I'm honest, forgetting about the battle between long and short here over valued or ramped up ultimately in the grand scheme I couldn't give a toss. it's genuinely something I'm not taking lightly at all.

I think the government has seriously messed up here and we are all going to pay for it.

Boris is too slow.School closure, stopping flights, only allowing essential transport would have contained this.

This is my own opinion of the situation regarding the effects of COVID-19 on the markets in general: Up to next summer, it is expected every company connected or not, to China will flag up trading difficulties due to the virus. Meaning that downgrades upon profit warnings will be announced in series. As the supply chain is hurt and logistics are poor, no company will work in a normal synchronised manner. Some are predicting a 50% drop in production and performance. In my opinion, the main winners in the midst of a full blown worldwide recession/economic crisis, will mainly be biotechs working to eradicate the virus by means of testing to isolate the infected to stop the spread of the disease, disinfection of hospitals and vaccines - unfortunately vaccines could take up to 18 months as they should go through various phases before allowed to be given to humans. So how can a savvy and logical investor be outside these sectors and in NCYT in particular ? Think about it.

Yes I agree but failing to answer meaningful questions directly. They know they should have acted sooner

Just a note here for those interested in stocks which should benefit from coronavirus. TLY subsidiaries Vocare and Greenbrook run various 111 and urgent care services all around the country. The number of 111 calls have soared and the government has announced more money to upgrade the service. TLY should be the beneficiary of some of this money. In addition if the virus does spread widely (which is highly likely IMHO), the urgent care part of their portfolio will also have increased usage. The company has contracts based on per patient treated and there is settlement at the end of every month up or down depending on the reality. It is nearly always up and so clearly if there is a general outbreak the number of urgent care admisssions will soar.

So far TLY has gone down over 20% in the recent stock market slump which is madness because they will be one of the main beneficiaries of the outbreak. Of course all IMHO and DYOR....
