30/9/2008 17:09 | isnt new labour doing a wonderful job. best PM we've ever had. They have done so much good, its hard to believe they have only been in power for 11 years. just thought id join in with the numbskulls who voted new labour, and probably bought NR shares. | ivor whopper
30/9/2008 16:38 | Dan I cannot really believe you are as dim as you appear. | greycioud
30/9/2008 15:36 | What is a little funny about this with BB going down NRK going down AL being taken out is all of these were not involved in the real problems of the financial markets. None of them were trading sub prime debts cfc or whatever you want to call them. They were all dealing in the UK housing market not trailer parks in the US. Yet is the smaller banks who are going out of business and those who were trading all this stuff such as Barclays who will be kept in business. BB NRK AL all lost out because funds dried up. They were all FTSE100 companies not long ago. Yes they may have given out some mortgages to some who may not pay them back but that has always happened and does not mean the bank should go under. | diydan
30/9/2008 15:07 | Onsider well said. | diydan
30/9/2008 12:38 | bryanmuppet Why do you continue to copy & paste all this drivel without naming the source and pretend it to be all your own work? You fraud! | coogar
30/9/2008 11:57 | still wondering.... lol | onsider
30/9/2008 07:29 | The Chancellor Alistair Dither! A crucial report that could kick-start Britain's moribund mortgage market has been delayed by a fortnight so it can be updated to take September's market turbulence into account. The report by a committee led by Sir James Crosby, the former chief executive of HBOS and commissioned by Alistair Darling, is likely to address whether the Government should renew or extend the Bank of England's Special Liquidity Scheme past January 2009 or guarantee high-quality mortgage-backed securities, reports the Times........ Yes we have all the time in the world, no need to hurry, did someone say something about an economic crisis, probably doesn't concern us. | bryan2
29/9/2008 15:08 | Change the record loser. NRK & BB were sub standard mortgage lenders. | greycioud
29/9/2008 14:56 | GreycIoud and AL? Hbos? now BB. what you think of RBS? is there any UK bank that has a "good business plan" They are all only open because of the £200B+ BOE has given them. Good job we have the Spanish do you not agree? HVS What you on about? You should be pleased you now own almost all the UK banks. There must be one of them that is worth something..? | diydan
29/9/2008 12:52 | DIY, It was a job well done. DIY at the B of E , the Treasury and off course the FSA and ruled over it all ??? Our PRUDENCE without the Northern Frock | hvs
29/9/2008 12:45 | coogar I see another bank gone today. How many is that? AL. Hbos and now BB. oh and looks very bad for RBS. Even your Lloyds taking a kicking today. How much you lost now? Or are you going to give the usual answer of "I only trade them so made money out of them" Is there any UK bank that has a good business plan I hear you asking..... | diydan
29/9/2008 12:41 | bryanmuppet Isn't there at least one hedge fund lining up alongside you muppets to claim compensation for its worthless NRK shares? Then of course there is the other hedge fund who not long ago you were hoping was coming to the rescue of your beloved worthless NRK. | coogar
29/9/2008 12:26 | HArdly a @sharp@ move.... | onsider
29/9/2008 12:13 | The dollar has risen sharply today against the pound and euro. This is against the predictions of 'experts' some of whom even said the US state would be downgraded from AAA status because of the 700B$ bailout being introduced. It seems that the proactive approach of the US authorities is welcomed rather than the reactive BoE/GordonBrown of shutting stable doors when the horse has bolted. | bryan2
29/9/2008 10:02 | Onsider It is I wonder what they got to say about BB. | diydan
29/9/2008 08:55 | Tory party funded with dirty money! Hedge fund managers whose donations entitle them to membership of the group include Michael Hintze of CQS, who has given £662,500 and whose organisation shorted shares in Bradford and Bingley. Two other men who qualify as members of the group are Paul Ruddock, who has given almost £210,000, and David Craigen, who has donated £50,000. The pair's investment firm, Lansdowne, was exposed last week as shorting shares in HBOS. Yesterday critics were quick to attack Cameron for taking money from hedge funds. 'Now we see that the same hedge fund wolf pack who brought HBOS to its knees are bankrolling the Tory party,' said Lord Oakeshott, the Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman. 'No wonder David Cameron and George Osborne wouldn't condemn short-selling or the hedge funds' disgraceful behaviour.' | bryan2
27/9/2008 07:24 | Greycload At last you got something right!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NRK did have most of its lending in the SOUTH EAST of England. It is the southerners who are not paying their loans!!!!!!!!!! | knowsleyman
