NUT seem to be missing out on the market rally in small caps over the summer, surprising since their most recent trading statement was positive. Results out next Tuesday so I guess we'll find out more then.

Any transaction priced at 2.49p is not a sale but a purchase(under the Mid price of 2.5p is deceiving). Today I bought 45,000 of these through TD Waterhouse on a T+20 contract, at this same price. This transaction does not appear at all. I will hold these for the long term as am of the opinion that they are a great long term investment. Call me a NUT if you like! Only time will tell. Almost all sectors of industry will be hit through this economic downturn. Working capital and product pricing are the two key ingredients for the success/failure of NUT (IMHO).

Price is currently in the doldrums but the recent trend looks quite positive.

Worth bearing in mind, PhilAJ, that despite increasing profits 100%, being well supported by an Indian pharmaceuticals company with big plans, and having some high-profile backers [Sir Gulam Noon] - the price is still below par value of 10p.

The company is acquiring nutraceutical companies in a fragmented market that is growing some 12% per annum. Risks are limited to whether NUT can grow effectively if their paper has such low value. However whilst this will remain way off the radar of many investors, because of its size, for a while yet, the growth prospects and potential takeover premium are enough to make me an investor.

I tend to agree with shammytime that from a short and long term perspective this is a good asset to have in a portfolio.

Done all the research I need thanks. Know a couple of fellas called Ben but neither has ever mentioned NUT so I guess I must drink in the wrong pubs.

I don't mean to upset you shanks but I'm so excited by this share.

I should point out that I was an investor in NUT when it first listed a few years ago at 19p, so I do believe in the company.

If it does reach 12p this week, the only way is up in my view.

Whilst a tip in the weekend press raises some interest it seldom generates the amount you anticipate shammytime. This stock is, I believe, undervalued but it is not alone in this respect.

There are many good stocks that can be picked up cheap right now but there is only limited interest from PI's and professional city traders in buying these right now because there is a chronic lack of confidence.

You seem to think of investing as a gallop, to and beyond some notional finish line, when in point of fact it is more like a marathon. If you buy NUT at these prices you should be fairly safe but don't expect any great surge to bank you a quick profit.

Longshanks, I think 1.2p is probably probably reasonable given the current trading, (ie strong growth from Brunel, fairly flat Biocare plus recent small acquisitions), given that there will still be some EPS dilution in the first half because of Elder.

Further acquisitions this year (which seems imminent) should be earnings enhancing, leading to broker forecast earnings upgrades later this year, but we will have to wait and see what they buy.

At 9.75 and a forecast EPS of 1.2p it is still trading on a forward PE of 8.1, which is very cheap considering that its a fairly low risk business.

In addition, Elder's option to subscribe for additional shares to keep their stake at 20% expires in November 2008. Elder is looking for a foothold in the UK. They recently said that they are not looking for new acquisition but will consider consolidating/expanding their existing overseas investments, which consists of NUT and a small factory in Europe. We may just see an all-out bid from Elder this year.

Low risk, great potential upside with or without a bid.
