The FT "Short View" column today says "It is reasonable to worry about China given (among other things) the failure of banks to recognise bad debts". It is perhaps cultural, and Naibu are part of that culture.

One must expect a good chunk of Naibu's trade receivables will be uncollectable. If half is lost, then the share price is perhaps about right now. Less than that lost, and eventually we will recover. The company made a profit of Rmnb200M and the receivable increased by Rmb300M, so if half that receivables increase turns out to be imaginary profit, the real profit was about 1/4 of the reported profit. But my guesses are just that: guesses.

I do find the dividend suspension discouraging. However, I note that when H Lin took his dividend as scrip in a falling market, there were posts asserting he must have some dishonest motive. If he took his dividend as cash, there would be even more posts saying he had no confidence in the shares. I hope he doesn't read the bulletin boards.

Reminds me of OUT topinfo was pumping at 30p now 14p bid he quickly vanished
after telling people it was going to 60p then boasting he sold at 33p after the drop.

Beware the conman pump and dumpers.

since his 'glory days' of one year making £12k and boasting about it his unit lot size seems to have shrunk from £3-4k to £500

that is why he posts with such desperation

2003 has obviously been a fantastic year after the war in Iraq was over in March/April time and there has been some serious gainers in individual stocks and the Indices themselves if you are a spread better as well. This is totally voluntary but just thought it might be interesting to see how much we have all made in 2003. Personally I could have made an absolute fortune if I had kept certain stocks that I had at rock bottom prices and I mean the very bottom but thats life. these included NTX, ARM,C+W, TFC. TRK, SPT, just to name a few, but theres no point dwelling over things that are no longer in my porfolio.
Anyway honest answers only from those who wish to participate, no need for loads of comments, just a cash figure...And dont worry I am not from the Inland Revenue trying to catch you out on Capital Gains.
Me personally, up about £12,000!

Personally I go for ivestments around £4000-5000 mark, so if a share is 3-4p I will buy 100,000..Profit/Loss £1000 per 1p, stocks around 7-8p, buy 50,000...profit/loss £500 per penny, and stocks like 60p-80p, just buy 5000 shares, so profit/loss is about £50 per penny...All depends on how much you have to invest and how much you can afford to lose. Obviously there is risks with losing the lot but if you have a company with prospects and you believe in it then you are okay, I dont buy large amounts on someones say-so on bulletin boards. My largest holding is in CMS webview, got over £12,000 invested in them, but bought in four blocks of 50,000...Good luck!!!!

Actually TOPINFO, if the receivables of REM 1,024Billion are either never collected in or are non-existent sales (e.g. invented sales which never occurred in the first place), then I compute that NAV is actually about 10.6p per share.

A value of 10.6p per share for NBU assumes that all the other figures in the balance sheet are not fraudulent, in particular the cash. If the sales are fictitious then it follows the cash figure - even after the substantial receivables - is also a bogus figure. Therefore, note that because of the unreliable figures, I am not saying that NBU is worth as much as 10.6p because the real position could be a lot lower. Only the Chinese family who own the company know the true worth of NBU - and they are not saying!!
