Thanks for that, digi, looks interesting. I like the countries mix too, proper global not too US dominated. |
@thamestrader - try hxxps://www.justetf.com/uk/etf-profile.html?isin=NL0011683594#dividends
I hold TDGB and JGGI. |
People were paying over NAV quite recently, as mentioned then you need your head examined to pay in excess of net asset value - unless there are exceptional circumstances. |
Now that manager Bruce Stout's departure in June 2024 has been confirmed, given the new managers have yet to prove themselves, I'm inclined to sell my holding in MYI and opt instead for a passive global income ETF (e.g. TDGB).
Any views? |
We seem to be down only the XD for a nice £distribution next month. Might well be weaker now it’s XD and around NAV. I’d always view a discount here as an opportunity. Edit. My mistake XD isn’t 12p I had forgotten the share split! You’re right, off 4% ouch. |
Yep a bad day to go ex div, doubly whacked. |
ex-div today, hence the larger-than-most fall. |
May update: |
"Has performed particularly well " Interesting comments made. |
Demand and supply I think. Recent track record is good and there appears to be more buyers than sellers. share price is at a small premium to NAV so increasing supply should prevent a large premium occurring. MYI gets a little extra cash to invest. Shareholders marginally benefit from the issuance at a premium. Obviously at times in the past there have been periods of relatively poor performance and they have bought back shares at a discount as there were more sellers than buyers. Not really to do with being overvalued or needing the cash. Cheers. |
Interesting that they have started selling some of the shares in treasury back to the market.
Does this mean they feel the share price is overvalued or that they need cash to invest in something else that give a better return? |

They have their own website, everything here. |
Latest Factsheet is in their website hTTps://www.murray-intl.co.uk/en-gb?gclid=Cj0KCQjw6cKiBhD5ARIsAKXUdyYEMY6MPbrUQjZ_XXf0dp2VvSCIAkKH-MwZKKb0T5sm6x0nIuUccp4aAky7EALw_wcB |
1.6 billion trust and still can't get hold of a fact sheet |
OK, thanks, that makes sense. Only have it on a watchlist at HL hence wouldn't have noticed a holding change. |
HL have updated my holding but they are awaiting an updated fact sheet from the Trust before they can trade stock I've been told |
HL not yet updated. Iweb have adjusted my holding and are providing prices but don't seem to provide any background info.
Not sure if I've been through a share split before. I realise historical info needs to be rebased which can take time but this seems to be dragging on a bit. |
Mine were updated OK at A J Bell |
ii updated my MYI shares with the adjusted holding yesterday |
nothing updated yet at aj bell, |
Or possibly less than 270.4 depending upon sentiment and efficiency of brokers and investment platforms (various) to update properly. |
So, if i've done my maths right, on Monday morning we'll wake up to five times as many shares, worth about 270.4p each. |
Yes I'm rather hoping they are chips off the old block. Wouldn't want them doing anything different to what Bruce would hold once he has retired. My largest holding. That should be hodling. |
If not seen, it is well worth watching presentation:
"Online Presentation - Monday 3 April 2023
Murray International Trust PLC hosted an online presentation on Monday 3 April. This event took the form of a short introduction from the Chairman, followed by a more detailed presentation from the Managers, Bruce Stout, Martin Connaghan and Samantha Fitzpatrick. A recording of the event is available to watch below, as well as a copy of the slides used by the investment managers." |
