12/12/2007 22:06 | DOQ, are you out there? Can you confirm what I see - which is that MTI hasn't been included in the FTSE Small Cap in this quarter's review, though they are an exclusion in the FTSE Fledgling Index? | rivaldo
11/12/2007 20:40 | Indeed. Funny how VLK are left off the list of those being ejected - I assumed they were certs. Maybe just an omission. Nice RNS from MTI tonight - another new institutional holder have joined the party, declaring themselves with 586,000 shares (just over 3%). Pressure is building methinks: | rivaldo
11/12/2007 20:00 | Cheers riv - no last minute disaster here anyway. Let's see what happens next. Volume should get even bigger now, particularly next Thursday/Friday. share price should follow but doesn't always go the way we want it to. Any takeover interest would be icing on the cake. It will be interesting to watch how many in the list are correct. I reckon AIP and SPO are going to be on the threshold - and might just fall the wrong side. My guess is about 102.1m will be required for entry - so let's see. | doubleorquits
11/12/2007 15:37 | :o)) It's here DOQ - as you say, "barring any last minute escapes".... Go about 2/3 down the page. | rivaldo
11/12/2007 15:07 | Where is it confirmed, riv? I thought the meeting was based on tonight's closing prices? Having said that, I can't see it not happening. :0) Unless they issue a profit warning before the close anyway. | doubleorquits
11/12/2007 14:03 | And up again. It's been confirmed that MTI will be promoted to the FTSE Small Cap in this month's shake-up. Given MTI's apparent lack of available float I'm looking forward to what happens if those funds needing to buy shares try to acquire in size. | rivaldo
11/12/2007 09:58 | Off we go again. Plenty of volume again too. | rivaldo
10/12/2007 20:37 | Decent late buying at the full 605p offer, and any selling being nicely absorbed - there could be a decent run in store here even without those bid rumours. | rivaldo
10/12/2007 12:37 | Volumes continuing to come in, and the price is steadily moving up. Lovely. | rivaldo
07/12/2007 15:28 | More buying coming in. And some substantial sells early today went through at well above the bid. Background demand and things cooking nicely I suspect. | rivaldo
05/12/2007 09:12 | And another new high (EDIT - well, it was...). | rivaldo
03/12/2007 12:25 | Another 38k of buys today in this normally quiet stock. | rivaldo
02/12/2007 10:31 | And here's the entire article :o)) "MTL Instruments firmed 0.4 per cent to 590p on vague bid rumours." Given yesterdays's national press coverage of cyber-attacks from China. Russia, Eastern Europe etc, MTI's new Tofino will be pretty popular I'd have thought: "The Tofino Industrial Security System is a new and unique, solution from MTL and Byres Security that addresses the important issue of protecting Industrial Networks from modern cyber-security attacks." | rivaldo
01/12/2007 11:39 | Confirmation of what I'd been thinking in today's FT: "Vague bid rumours lift MTL Instruments" Should be enough to get the price over 600p for a start. | rivaldo
28/11/2007 19:46 | Thanks for that Rivaldo | gswredland
28/11/2007 12:51 | Good volumes being traded again. There's an excellent report on MTI new on the web site, dating from end of September - too long to paste, but here's the conclusion: "Conclusions MTL's recent wave of acquisitions fit well into the company's business model and should provide some significant long-term benefits and potential for development of new products. The potential for synergy between MTL's recently acquired businesses and its established business in surge protection, hazardous areas, and open systems is great. Cross-developmental opportunities abound in the areas of fieldbus, wireless communications, security, and safety." | rivaldo
28/11/2007 09:17 | More nosey buying, another rise and another new high............ | rivaldo
27/11/2007 19:24 | AXA are increasing steadily - that's another 183,000 added, with 2.82m (14.5%) in total: With Small Cap Index buying on top it's not surprising the price is being squeezed higher. | rivaldo
27/11/2007 10:31 | Ah....DOQ, ta for that, I hadn't noticed (a bit slow at the moment!). Given that MTI is pretty firmly held a FTSE Small Cap promotion could have quite an interesting effect on the share price :o)) Or of course it could just be that MTI is an excellent company likely to be acquired at some point. Which it is imo. | rivaldo
27/11/2007 09:39 | now 300k traded today! Something's up, and it's not just the price! Riv: Maybe it's the fact that it's going into the SMX in December Review. That usually gets price and volume moving. :0) | doubleorquits
26/11/2007 07:26 | Interesting blog comment from someone who seems to be an industry insider: "MTL acquisition I slowed down over the weekend and am still whittling down the pile of news that came while I was swamped with Automation Fair and getting our December issue of Automation World finished. MTL Instruments Group has struck again and acquired a 90 percent stake in RTK, a manufacturer of process alarm equipment, displays and interface products. The release states RTK has specific expertise in the application of alarm handling apparatus in hazardous and potentially flammable environments. The acquisition will enable an international expansion of RTK's customer base leveraging MTL's channel. I'd keep an eye on MTL. It's gradually putting together a sizable company." | rivaldo |
