Congrats to MWE's management for acting so decisively and disposing of the Russian operations so quickly. If only others acted similarly (my personal bugbear are the French - Total, Danone, Renault etc are all operating almost normally over there, with French government backing too):

Great to see Premier Miton buying more - they've gone from 4.98% to over 5%, and now have 4.46m shares:

Perhaps it was Miton who bought those 50,000 shares from MWE's treasury.

Strong results from Spirent yesterday helps explains the rise here (as well as MWE falling way too far!). Spirents growing order book is mainly driven from 5G orders. Numis rated the stock a Buy, noting that 5G is “big and enduring tailwind”, and Spirent’s “top team keeps leveraging this tailwind in ever more ways to grow NPV materially”. Good read across IMO

Good to see an "institutional investor" buying at 57p the last 50,000 shares held by MWE in treasury:

I attended the Annual results presentation. Moni is a very impressive CEO. It seems to me that MWE is really well positioned and remarkably cheap.

Good summary by ST, pointing out that MWE are on a P/E of 12 net of the $12.5m of cash (10.7p per share), and that as I posted previously the dollar has surged against the shekel since the year end, which will benefit MWE this year.

Here's his conclusion:

"For example, MTI’s antenna division is feeding off growing demand for 5G network backhaul antenna systems (accounting for 20 per cent of divisional sales) and military antenna (30 per cent of sales). MTI has just received a trial order, from a Tier 1 OEM vendor for its new automatic beam steering 5G antenna. The technology ensures that the antenna automatically adapts to any small movements or vibrations caused by different climate conditions, including wind or temperature, to maintain a stable signal.

The global wireless backhaul market is dominated by seven key OEM vendors which supply radio equipment to the main cellular network operators and support the roll-out of 5G infrastructure. MTI is now working with five of them, and chief executive Moni Borsovitz says that MTI is now in discussions with more potential customers. Although still only a small part of the overall group, accounting for 6.4 per cent of total operating profit, Borsovitz expects the antenna business to report robust growth this year.

He also outlined strong drivers for MTI’s wireless water management systems division, which reported a 7 per cent rise in annual operating profit to $2.1mn on revenue of $17.6mn. MTI has just announced a partnership with Viridix, a specialist in actionable data analytics for irrigation that measures the water available to the roots of crops. The technology is being integrated with Mottech's real-time irrigation monitoring, control and reporting software, so that customers can monitor crop root activity and implement an irrigation protocol across farms in real time. The sensors only cost farmers a few hundred dollars per hectare, but can reduce water usage by more than a quarter. It is likely to prove a lucrative recurring revenue stream.

MTI’s Summit electronics division, which represents 40 international suppliers of radio frequency/microwave components, increased operating profit by 15 per cent to $1.85mn last year, buoyed by high levels of government spending on defence. That’s not going to change anytime soon.

I initiated coverage on the shares when they were priced at 40p (Alpha Report: ‘Tapping into 5G and climate change technologies’, 4 September 2020), and the price subsequently doubled in value. Underpinned by a prospective dividend yield of 4.9 per cent, and trading on a cash-adjusted price/earnings (PE) ratio of 12, the shares are priced for a profitable outcome. Buy."

Yep, good results as already flagged and a very confident outlook going forward. The 2.8c dividend represents a tasty 4.6% dividend yield at 46p.

Most importantly, 2022 "has begun well for the business with an increased pipeline of opportunities across all three divisions."

And "the macro drivers for our business being the roll-out of 5G networks globally, increased defence spending and ongoing worldwide water shortages, should ensure that there is increasing demand for the Group's products and services."

Also, the shekel has weakened against the dollar since the start of the year so MWE will benefit from positive exchange differences in this H1. Plus there's confirmation that the Russian effect is reasonably immaterial and is now removed.

With around 11p per share in the $12.6m cash pile MWE are on an ex-cash P/E of only 11 or so - extremely cheap imho given the global and sector prospects.

All as expected except this excellent news which means i won’t sell my shares: “ he events in Ukraine have shocked the world and are deeply saddening. With the situation being very fluid and multiple actions being taken globally at Government levels, the Board has decided to exit the Group's operations in Russia. MTI's office in Russia generated 6% of consolidated revenues and circa 5% of net profits in 2021, all relating to distribution and professional consulting services. The core professional consulting services division's activities are and will remain in Israel without any disruption, which is also the case in respect of our other divisions”

Today's news is an RNSNON as it's not financially material at this point - but it's certainly pretty important and exciting in all other ways imo!

This trial order "to support the roll-out of 5G infrastructure" is:

- to a new Tier 1 OEM customer
- is of a new antenna solution
- expands MWE's 5G offering
- means MWE "now works with five out of the seven leading OEM vendors"
- and moves MWE's "total 5G solution up the value chain"

Robsy and alexmc, here's a link for you to explain the role of a broker properly. Shore Capital are much larger and more influential than Allenby - they'll be able to promote/send research/influence/introduce MWE to the largest of institutional and private investors:

MTI Wireless Edge Ltd

("MTI" or the "Group")

Trial order from TIER 1 supplier for 5G antenna innovation

MTI Wireless Edge Ltd (AIM: MWE), the technology group focused on comprehensive communication and radio frequency solutions across multiple sectors, is pleased to announce that its Antenna division has received a trial order, from a TIER 1 OEM vendor, for its new automatic beam steering ("ABS") antenna solution as part of the Company's 5G solution.

The global wireless backhaul market is dominated by seven key OEM vendors. Some of the seven are considered Tier-1 and some are Tier-2, all of them supply radio equipment to the main cellular network operators to support the roll-out of 5G infrastructure. With this order, MTI now works with five out of the seven leading OEM vendors and this is the first order from a TIER 1 OEM vendor for the ABS antenna solution.

MTI's main product for the 5G market is a 80 GHz ABS antenna solution allowing the cellular operator to increase backhaul capacity and link distance to enable the delivery of the faster, higher bandwidth, services. However, antenna beams in higher frequencies, such as E Band, are narrower and are very sensitive to mast or antenna movements. In response, MTI has developed the ABS antenna solution, which ensures the antenna automatically adapts to any small movements or vibrations caused by different climate conditions, including wind or temperature, and maintains a stable signal even during difficult conditions.

The order from the TIER 1 OEM vendor is a trial order to enable it to carry out its own tests on the ABS antenna solution which currently works in MTI's test range. If successful, this will be an important technical development, potentially moving MTI's total 5G solution up the value chain.

MTI's CEO, Moni Borovitz, commented: "While it is early days for the ABS antenna solution, it is an exciting development which has the potential to materially expand our 5G offering. The fact we have already attracted the interest of a new TIER 1 customer, shows in my view, the potential importance of the product."

Excellent news just now, with the appointment of the mighty Shore Capital alongside Allenby Capital. No disrespect to Allenby, but MWE have long outgrown Allenby and the appointment of Shore signals a much greater ambition:

The share price has obviously fallen due to concerns over Russian exposure, which is understandable given for example the recent success of the new St Petersburg office in starting to win contracts such as the one on 21st December.

However, there comes a point when such concerns become overblown as regards the share price, particularly as MWE are such a global business and are doing well enough without Russian sales.

Besides, MWE have a $12.5m and fast-growing cash pile (and other tangible property assets) to set against the now £39.8m m/cap.

We just need putin to move his troops from the Ukraine border, and we should see a decent bounce across the small cap market. Including here....

Agreed. Caught up in the tech/small cap and geopolitical storm unfairly IMO. The only partial justification for a drop here is the St Petersburg office which MWE Summit opened last year. They announced a $3m communications contract recently beginning H2 2022 and there could be a question around this work being delayed if Israel end up imposing sanctions on Russia (depending on how far such sanctions end up going). Israel are in a tough place as they have close relations with Ukraine and Russia. Anyway i don’t think this should result in wiping 30% off the market cap! The good news is the chap that said “MWE is now a Russian play” made me laugh a lot which is always good.
