05/1/2021 12:38 | Monks has been one of my very best investments over the years. Not just for the good returns, but also for peace of mind. I’ve learnt to let the manager manage the risks of investing, or not investing, in specific regions or sectors. Although successfully focused on growth stocks, the trust avoids concentration on particular holdings, which suits me fine. I no longer try to churn the shares or second guess the managers. They can worry for me while I go and do something else. | caradog
05/1/2021 11:54 | Quite so, but it does demonstrate the risks of investing in PRC. | poikka

04/1/2021 15:05 | TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The mystery over the whereabouts of Alibaba and Ant Group founder Jack Ma (馬雲) has begun to intensify as reports surface that he failed to appear on his own talent show, and his social media accounts have gone dormant since October." | poikka

14/12/2020 14:33 | "China warned its Internet giants on Monday (Dec. 14) that it would not tolerate monopolistic practices and to brace for increased scrutiny, as it slapped fines and announced probes into deals involving Alibaba Group and Tencent Holdings. "The fines of the three cases are a signal to society that anti-monopoly supervision in the Internet field will be strengthened,” the SAMR said even as it acknowledged the fines were relatively small. “The Internet industry is not outside the oversight of anti-monopoly law,” it added in a separate statement. Hong Kong-listed shares of Alibaba and Tencent fell after the news, with Alibaba closing down 2.6% and Tencent’s shares ending 2.9% lower in their worst day since Nov. 30." Quite a few ITs have been heavily into those two, Monks not so much. | poikka
