Right! I've just had a look at Micap. It looks very interesting to me, especially as SKP have a decent holding! Haven't bought in yet, but it is a possibility for the risk portfolio.

I want to push that offending line up and out anyway :)

Few more posts will push offending line up and out of the way, this post is not as pointless as it might at first appear...

all - there's an overlong line causing rendering problems on the page. Can y'all please check and edit posts, any URLs especially (mentioning no names) so that the page renders properly (very polite request;-)? If you don't know what I'm asking - it's probably you who's causing the problem!-D

Interesting backers but do they have any trading history? When might they make a profit? Boring questions I know but they interest me as a company however some numbers would be nice........... What newsflow do you anticipate????

Rising steadily since launch. Just bought a few more (payed just under mid-price, so advfn might wrongly list as a sell). Seems some online brokers haven't heard of it yet. In six months or so they should do.

Could you say something more detailed than just "fill your boots"? There's precious little info on their Website on which to base an intelligent buy decision. I'll be waiting for their maiden results to see whether they're worth it.

'Encapsulating Technology'

Thread title says food tech - but they microencapsulate (within yeast cells) ingredients for foods, medicines, farm chemicals, cosmetics, whatever, allowing controlled release/activation/delivery. Technology originally (I think) licensed to them by Unilever. Skyepharma have an interest.

EDIT 28/4/2008 - company reorg - will focus on food technology after all.

3 month, 1 day, 5 day.

nms (Edit 2006) is 2000; the 4 marketmakers usually quote in 5k lots.

8/08/03 Edit: SOME PRE-FLOAT HISTORY (lines extracted from the Independent 13 July 2003):

Multi-millionaire Ian Gowrie-Smith, the ceo of SkyePharma, is attempting to raise £3.5m for the yeast-based biotechnology minnow Micap, due to float on AIM ....
...SkyePharma invested £2m in Micap in January 2003 by buying a 26.7 per cent stake, valuing the company at £8m...
...The involvement of the Australian-born Mr Gowrie-Smith and SkyePharma with Micap began after a previously planned £5m institutional placing with rival broker Collins Stewart was pulled in December 2002. Mr Gowrie-Smith, a former stockbroker, came to the fore as he merged Medeva with the then Celltech Chiro-Science in November 1999 to form Celltech Group in a £1.3bn deal. Skye's interest in Micap comes because its technology can mask the unpleasant taste of an orally taken medicine, as well as increasing the time it takes for an orally taken drug to enter a patient's system..
...Micap also signed a royalty-based deal with Firmenich - the world's third-largest flavour and fragrance company - to incorporate its technology into the flavours used by Firmenich in savoury products such as crisps, fried food coatings and soups..
...Mr Gowrie-Smith joined the Micap board as chairman following Skye's investment, replacing Sigma Technology Management's Neil Crabb as non-executive chairman. Sigma, the specialist biotechnology venture capital group, held a 13 per cent stake, according to the company's latest share register of 4 May, with Bank Of Scotland holding 1.8 per cent..
