Firstly, there is NO BAN ON SHORT SELLING in the UK.
Secondly, there is NO BAN ON SHORT SELLING METRO BANK IN THE UK.
I have a dedicated client manager at IG due to my account size.

Secondly, there is NO BAN ON SHORT SELLING METRO BANK IN THE UK.
I have a dedicated client manager at IG due to my account size. I had no issue short selling Metro this morning and I asked him why people would be saying there was a ban.
He said that they are now only accepting new shorts on some stocks via their client dealing team, but that this isn't and shouldn't be affecting Metro bank.
Can someone else with an IG account please call their client team, ask to put a short on Metro, then come back on here and post the outcome. Then we can all have a laugh at what total idiots this lot are......

Phone IG onehanded.... you don't even need an account. Just call them on 0800 195 3100. Say you want to short metro bank. They will say "NO problem, what's your account number"...then hang up the phone when they ask for that. Then report back what a total muppet you are.

At least no more boasting of the shorters, how they shorted for £2 a point. It's put a stop to that. So new money will flow to actually buy shares or go long. Yes markets may fall due to liquidity issues.

Onehanded needs someone to attack over his ever growing Metro losses. Come on you morons. I've got more money. than the three of you put together. I'm sat on cash of £400,000, GOLD ETF of £150,000, which I bought at the low the other day. No long positions. A few, play money short positions. And stakes in businesses that are thriving in the current environment - ECOMMERCE - ECO CLEANING PRODUCTS.

There is a blanket ban of spread bet shorting, so anyone saying they have opened today is fake. Next week will see restriction on investment company selling shares they don't own. The market may well fall BUT not from short selling but liquidity reasons.
