Metro Bank partnered with ezbob to enhance its digital lending offering for businesses [Clusterstock]
This story was delivered to Insider Intelligence subscribers earlier this morning. By leveraging the UK-based fintech's end-to-end digital lending solution Metro Bank can offer its business customers a new lending experience per Finextra The new business banking service is expected to be introduced in mid-2020. ezbob was founded in 2011 signed RBS as its first client in 2016; the latter uses the Lending-as-a-Service (LaaS) platform to help power its digital lending solution Esme. Other ezbob clients include CYBG (now rebred as Virgin Money) American Express At a time when SMBs remain underserved by financial institutions (FIs) ezbob can help lenders significantly enhance the customer experience. RBS established a fund to help SMBs access better financial services but lenders are still struggling to serve such companies. RBS was mated by the EU as a condition of its financial crisis-era bailout to establish a £775 million ($1 billion) grant to help drive innovation in financial services for SMBs. Metro Bank was awarded £120 million ($157 million) of the fund but had to pay back according to However using white-label solutions like ezbob's can help lenders better tailor their services toward SMBs. Such companies often don't have time to complete lengthy application processes for loans especially since around half of first-time SMB borrowers are rejected With the help of ezbob's solution however CYBG for example lent out up from Offering white-label solutions for SMB lending is likely a good move to build a sustainable business. Interest in alternative finance options is on the rise: 35% of small businesses considered alternative lenders in 2019 up from 30% in 2018 according to Growth Street data cited by AltFi . To retain their clients many banks will likely seek out partnerships with white-label lending solution providers like ezbob to replicate alternative finance providers' services meet customer dems. So working with conventional FIs to overhaul their existing lending services may be a sustainable business model for fintechs that drives innovation in SMB finance from all kinds of providers. That is not true, selling on the first lurches lower (global equities) was certainly a good call. Saved like 10-15% downside at least. Taking profit on govies probs not the worst call at the moment, though I wouldn't be liquidating whole positions. Buying silver on the dip last week, if you weren't already holding a position, also arguably a good call if you buy into silver as a high beta gold play over medium to long term. If you are missing gold, might also have been a good idea to buy current dip. Lots to be doing that can add returns and protect capital. Buy oil, there is another. Already made like 10% off that one yesterday. Panic selling bad, yes if done in a wanton fashion. Rapid response selling defo, defo good call though.

Given the current volatility anything could happen right now but share price has recovered yesterday's losses while main banks haven't ergo it was over sold by mainstream panic selling.

Asked my city mate about the markets. He said:

"I personally think this is the EXACT capitulation you needed to see to mark a bottom... time will tell and bottom formation is a "process" but buying good balance sheets now will turn out to be a great decision".

"I heard from a few ex-colleagues at trading desks at IIs that prices for even the ftse 100 stocks yesterday were almost false because they just couldn’t buy anything."

Is it really time to buy?
