JCs comment was a mistake...Cobre magnetite project is in Mexico and has nothing to do with privately-owned Australian copper exploration company, Cobre Pty Ltd ("Cobre")

So,

To get an idea of what the 2% NSR might look like if it was uncapped, on a T3 sized resource.... (figures from a twitter feed)

example: t3 - 11.5 yr mine life, 61 mill lb per yr, so 700mill lb’s.
All in cost, $1.35, use current spot - $2.82, so net revenue $1.47 /lb.
equates to $1.029 billion, 2% equates to around $20 million.

can anyone say if this is anywhere near an accurate method of estimating the 2% NSR?

If not I’d be interested to see some other maths...

If this is anywhere close, it is easy to see why the T3 NSR was capped at $2 million.

Summer season too. July/august, so will likely fall, then rebuild come September/October time I’d imagine....

Still, they seem to be reasonably well funded at moment, and they’ll receive more come October/November time assuming the current sandfire offer concludes, so no reason to expect another placing for a while....

KML news I would have thought from all the drilling shouldn’t be too far off by now either?

Agreed Lazygun. What we need is MTR to negotiate a 2% uncapped NSR over KML. Then things could get really interesting if KML strike something material! It looks as though the market has yet to wake up and fully understand what MTR potentially have.

I still believe the overall size of the deal gives away the landbank far too cheaply.

After listening to the podcast, it is clearer that their backs were against the wall - simply didn’t have sufficient cash, so I at least understand why they may have felt compelled to take the offer, and for Mtr to back it.

I’ll also have to concede that the net smelter royalty element, uncapped outside of t3 could get very interesting for MTR. either in 3 or 4 years time when other mineralisation is processed, MTR will get the royalties, or MTR will agree a big cash payout earlier, or possibly MTR will get bought out... an intriguing possibility hinted at by MM. Worst case on this is we don’t see royalties for a few years, but as I say I’ll have to concede that could be rather substantial...

And maybe the market hasn’t been able to formulate an opinion on the potential vale of that bit yet....

Talk about having to swallow humble pie.... grrrr.....

Evening Lazygun, TG and the MTR BOD were completely behind the MOD/SFR deal. Only one other PI made it to the AGM today. Pity you did not come along and voice your concerns.

MTR have a significant percentage of MOD shares. MR MM of MTR is on the MOD board as part of the T3 deal, and let’s not forget that whilst they say business and pleasure should be kept separate, TG and JH go way back.

Tho, as I say, I can’t believe TG has endorsed this...

Hi Lazygun, as TG is based in Perth as is Sandfire and KS, it would not surprise me if MMcN and he were heavily involved in the transaction. Agreed it is a shame that MOD was not sold for more but the fault lies fair and square at MOD BOD door. JH should have been replaced. This is the fault of a weak Chairman! I really cannot see why it is the fault of MTR. They had to agree to the transaction otherwise major MOD dilution would have been undertaken at a far lower price! The MOD share price has yet to hit the bid price of SFR so the market clearly has some doubt as to whether the transaction will complete! If the market anticipated another bidder then I would have thought this would have been reflected in a premium share price. I had a glance at the HotCopper ASX bulletin board. In general they appear to be happy to swap MOD paper for SFR. Not surprisingly SFR looks to be a much better run outfit! I am glad that MTR are out of the MOD investment!

Given sprott has invested majority of money in Mtr at around 3p or more, can’t see a great deal of joy in the sprott camp right now.

Properly managed, the Botswana stake could easily have catapulted mtr’s Share price north of 5p easily.....

Not now though....

Dreamtwister not sure what that would achieve. In any event MOD ran out of money and the BOD of directors were completely inept. Not sure what MTR could have done. Vote against the deal and forced MOD to raise at a discounted price to fund future drill campaigns. We know what happened last time. MOD raised a shed load of money and supposedly said they were going to turbo drill. Instead they went on corporate jollies and a London vanity listing! MTR were not in control of MOD just an investor. Better out of there in my view!
