Hi iamgreat1, thanks, should I sell my holding now? Or should I short to 20 and then buy more? Will it go higher after it gets to 20p, or will it go even lower? Thanks.

If it's your money it's your responsibility.
Blaming others on PBBs doesn't wash.

Merc is frustrating and the jury is still out on management but that's not the fault of any poster here. DYOR.

I will say again that the biggest problem here has been the time lag between the company making investment in these start-ups and making a profitable exit.

If Simon Thompson recommended MERC some time ago then perhaps he should have placed more emphasis on this time delay.

The main point for investors is that we are where we are NOW and the direct investment portfolio is looking very good.
If you take the value of the asset management business (c. 12p)and the cash from the current share price you are getting the deal of the century on the direct investment portfolio.

NB: I AM A RANDOM ONLINE POSTER .........FFS do your own thing.....all the info is there and it would only take an hour or so of your time.

I really don't think that anyone should blame anyone else for their investment failures.
I always read Simon Thompson BUT I reject 80% of his recommendations out of hand, not because they are unsound it's just that I don't fancy them (not very scientific....I know that).
I may look at the others but further, serious filtering does follow.
Sometimes I'm just pleased that he agrees with me on shares I hold but the main advantage to me is the little snippets of info he sometimes drops in.

As for following some random online poster well that's just plain stupid.

SEV22,
I think that PG have have had a look at the direct investment portfolio.

The direct investments look very good and I notice that the nDreams news came after the results period and I expect a material upgrade here.

It looks to me that there are a number of investments that could quite possibly sell for multiples of current prices.

I know that the long term holders are frustrated by the lack of "payback" from these investments but the company did say that they expected a holding period of 3-5years (from memory).

I wonder if Simon Thompson expected (was told?!!)that there would be a sizeable realisation of profits from investments in the near future.

Edison are saying 12-18 months but I have a hunch that at least one could happen before that
nDreams, Oxford Genetics or Voxpopme are all looking good as is Warwick Acoustics.
