07/3/2011 10:44 | With friends like Tesco, who need enemies! More evidence if it were needed of the demise of the record industry | timesmoney
07/3/2011 07:12 | TESCO PUSH ON MUSIC GROUPS' CD DEALS Tesco is pushing music companies to accept minimal upfront payments for the compact discs they ship to the Uk retailer, in a renegotiation that will test how record labels' bargaining power has diminished in line with shoppers' interest in CDs. Instead of paying £7 or £8 upfront for a typical album, Tesco wants to pay just 50p initially, with the remainder handed over when it sells the disc, Rob Salter, Tesco's entertainment director, told the Financial Times. | typo56
04/3/2011 09:39 | Sefton had a very flambouyant chairman and CEO at the time who I understand had a very wide vision for distribution within the UK that may or may not have included MBL. I asked the question at the AGM and it seems that Sefton did quite an extensive amount of DD but then again you would expect that if you were acquiring a very large stake in any event. They now have a very different management in place. | davidosh
04/3/2011 09:37 | Its not a closed period, so i wonder why PC doesnt use his 300K bonus to increase his stake by 5% ? The company is no longer in an offer situation, so i dont see anything stopping him... This complete lack of management share action is very telling. They obviously believe the share price action. | fft
04/3/2011 09:27 | It's comical that the Sefton Group bought 14% of MBL one year ago at £26m valuation, but now a private investor won't buy part of MBL at £6m. But what does a little guy know? More to the point, what did Sefton think they knew?! | moathunter
02/3/2011 13:54 | It would look odd if one of them bought a load and then they won the Morrisons contract. I can't see there being anything other than downward pressure on the share price till the Morrisons decision. It may be interesting to see where we are then. | kimboy2
02/3/2011 13:16 | Any director has to notify within 24 hours if they have made a purchase. As with this one a month ago.... The Board of MBL, the UK distributor of home entertainment products, was informed on 3 February 2011 that, on the same day, Steve Walsh-Hill, Finance Director, purchased 10,000 ordinary shares of 75p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") at a price of 49.5p per share. The Board was also informed on 4 February 2011 that, on the same day, Mr Walsh-Hill, purchased a further 9,000 Ordinary Shares at a price of 49.5p per share. Following these acquisitions, Steve Walsh-Hill now has an interest in 19 000 Ordinary Shares representing approximately 0.11 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital. | davidosh
02/3/2011 13:08 | Someone bought 100k on Monday at 44p. Could that of been a director? | fmcalorum
02/3/2011 11:20 | yield of 20%? OK, maybe not sustainable, but the price is getting silly now if the business can hold together. Some director buying would be in order if they are at all confident imo. | edmundshaw
02/3/2011 11:11 | Prices will have to rise then | kimboy2
02/3/2011 10:58 | Without the VAT dodge there is no margin to have a third party handle your sales and distribution. | timesmoney
02/3/2011 10:56 | It doesn't make the white label pointless just the Channel Islands. If they are going to consult on it then it probably won't be this budget but the next before anything is proposed. | kimboy2
02/3/2011 10:44 | The inevitable closing of the VAT loophole spells the end of the Chanel islands white label service for the UK based music retailers. The price advantage will disapear making the service pointless. Another brilliant strategic move by TA and the gang. | timesmoney
02/3/2011 09:57 | At least it would be the same for everybody. | jeffian
01/3/2011 17:08 | About as good news as it was a century or so ago for a purveyor of horse hay when a fellow horse hay supplier went bust! | typo56
01/3/2011 16:53 | I hear MUBL are experiencing very high sales of the Status Quo song "Down, Down Deeper and Down" What else is there to smile about? | alter ego
01/3/2011 16:48 | I must be hallucinating. Did I just see the words "good news" and "MUBL" used in the same sentence? 80( | jeffian
01/3/2011 16:40 | The likely demise of HMV can surely only mean good news for MUBL ??? | rbcrbc
27/2/2011 14:42 | There have been 4 planning applications for the site since 2007: First 1: Second 2: Last 1: This is the text of the response to the first: The more recent applications were made by "Steve Meredith of Reno Global", through agent "Taylor Design". Taylor Design is an architect, and the development is listed on their website. I think the MUBL facility is the big warehouse (two rectangles) at the bottom left of the plan. I think this is all explainable. Presumably the site owner is trying to put together a more comprehensive development including a second smaller warehouse and office space in order to increase their returns. Reno is an ordnance town in the USA. The site is a former ordnance factory. I wonder if the site is owned by "Reno Global", a company still associated with this. | maxcashflow
27/2/2011 14:12 | It's quite a big site. Cheers, Max | maxcashflow
27/2/2011 13:49 | To the rear of the property is a proposed warehouse facility for Music Box Ltd (construction commenced February 2010) and, further similar warehousing development is anticipated on the adjoining site. The two are not necessarily linked and the offices for sale may simply be the same owner/developer. Who actually owns the site where MBL are moving too ? | davidosh
27/2/2011 13:03 | Something is there near the bottom of the list but it's unclear precisely how it relates to MUBL if at all, although MUBL is mentioned as being "at the rear of the property". | deswalker |
